Estudo do impacto das habilitações literárias na sobrevivência política dos ministros dos Governos Constitucionais Portugueses (de 1976 até 2015)

Abstract

Os políticos pertencentes a um governo de um regime democrático, como é o caso de Portugal, estão sujeitos a pressões e desafios colocados não só pelos ciclos eleitorais, mas também pelas condições económicas e sociais do país. Nesse sentido existem diversas hipóteses sugeridas pela literatura como possíveis fatores que influenciam a sobrevivência política dos ministros num regime democrático. O presente estudo pretende analisar a sobrevivência política dos ministros que serviram nos Governos Constitucionais de Portugal entre 1976 até 2015 e de que forma é que o nível Habilitações Literárias influencia esta sobrevivência. Através da análise empírica de funções de sobrevivência, como a estimação de funções de Kaplan-Meier, a regressão de Cox e a regressão de risco proporcional de Weibull pretendemos testar se a influência do nível de educação é estatisticamente significativa. Os resultados deste estudo indicam que o nível de educação é estatisticamente significativo no sentido em que, quanto maior o nível de educação maior é o tempo de sobrevivência política dos ministros.

The politicians which belong to a government in a democratic regime, such as Portugal, are subject to pressures and challenges posed not only by electoral cycles, but also by the country’s economic and social conditions. In that way, there are several hypotheses suggested by the literature as possible factors that influence the political survival of ministers in a democratic regime. This study has the objective of analyze the political minister’s survival that served in the Portuguese Constitutional Governments since 1976 up to 2015 and also analyze the way that the level of education influence, or not, this survival. Using the empirical analysis of the survival functions, such as the Kaplan- Meier’s estimative, the Cox’s regression and the Weibull’s PH regression we pretend to conclude if the level of education has a significant statistical influence. The results of this study indicate that the education’s level is statistically significant, in the way that, the bigger is the education’s level, the longer is the time of political survival of the ministers.
