Gravidade na anorexia nervosa

Abstract

A anorexia nervosa (AN) é uma perturbação alimentar caraterizada por restrições alimentares autoimpostas extremas e um baixo IMC (Índice de massa corporal) que, tende a colocar em risco a vida dos indivíduos. O presente estudo pretende compreender a validade dos especificadores de gravidade propostos pelo DSM-5 (2013) em relação às caraterísticas clínicas e psicopatológicas da nossa amostra. Os nossos dados são de 152 participantes com diagnóstico de AN recrutados em duas unidades especializadas em perturbações do comportamento alimentar em Portugal. Foram efetuadas analises descritivas, Anovas e Manovas por forma a verificar se existiam diferenças entre grupos para as variáveis em estudo. Os resultados demonstram diferenças estatisticamente significativas no que toca ao Outcome Questionaire no Inventário de Depressão de Beck. No entanto, não apresentam quaisquer diferenças nas restantes variáveis, tanto clínicas como psicopatológicas o que vai ao encontro da literatura previamente estudada. No geral, os dados obtidos através das análises demonstram pouco suporte no que toca ao papel dos especificadores propostos pelo DSM-5 (2013) na AN.

Anorexia Nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by extreme self-imposed restrictions and a low BMI (Body Mass Index) that tends to put in danger the lives of the pacients. This study aims to understand the validity of the severity specifiers proposed by DSM-5 (2013) in relation to the clinical and psychopathological characteristics of our sample. Our sample consists in 154 participants diagnosed with AN that were recruited from two units specialized in eating disorders in Portugal. Descriptive analyzes, Anovas and Manovas were made in order to verify if there were differences between groups for the variables under study . The results demonstrate statistically significant differences with respect to the Outcome Questionaire and the Beck Depression Inventory. However, they do not present any differences in the remaining variables, both clinical and psychopathological, which is in line with the previously studied literature. In general, the data obtained through the analyzes demonstrate little support with regard to the role of the specifiers proposed by DSM-5 (2013) in AN.
