Identidade e Memória: a possibilidade de construção de uma nova narrativa para o Museu do Marajó por meio do design participativo

Abstract

Esta dissertação foi desenvolvida no âmbito do Mestrado em Design de Produto e Serviços da Universidade do Minho. É o resultado de uma pesquisa exploratória que tem como cenário principal o Museu do Marajó: um local de preservação histórica, etnográfica, artística, linguística e arqueológica, localizado no município de Cachoeira do Arari, na Ilha do Marajó (PA – Brasil). O referencial teórico e as metodologias do design participativo ou colaborativo são utilizados aqui como base, considerando Selloni (2017), Sanders et al (2010) e Brandt et al (2013) como autoras chave. Dessa forma, o objetivo central desta dissertação é o desenvolvimento de um framework/toolkit – ou conjunto de ferramentas – para processos de design participativo dentro do museu. Visando assim estimular a participação social e a preservação do acervo do MdM, também intensificando seu uso pela comunidade de Cachoeira do Arari. Para tanto, se faz necessária a recolha de dados, com métodos qualitativos e descritivos, uso de técnicas de mistas de observação direta extensiva e observação participante, contando com o auxílio de recursos de imagéticos e documentais. Também se realiza aqui a investigação sistematizada do relacionamento que existe entre os moradores com o Museu do Marajó, com o acervo e com o fundador do espaço, Giovanni Gallo. Outros pontos de investigação importantes dentro da dissertação são: a atuação do design na manutenção de espaços coletivos e o estudo de conceitoschave como museologia social, cultura, identidade, memória marajoara e design para inovação social.

This dissertation was developed as part of the Master's in Product Design and Services at the Universidade do Minho. This is the result of an exploratory research with the main setting being the Museu do Marajó: a historical, ethnographic, artistic, linguistic and archaeological preservation site, located in the municipality of Cachoeira do Arari on Ilha do Marajó (PA – Brazil). The theoretical framework and methodologies of participatory design are used here as foundation, considering Selloni (2017), Sanders et al (2010) and Brandt et al (2013) as key authors. Thus, the main goal of this dissertation is the development of a framework or toolkit for a participatory process within the museum, aiming to inspire social collaboration and the preservation and enrichment of the MdM collection. Therefore, intensifying its use by the community of Cachoeira do Arari. In consequence, it is necessary to collect data, with qualitative and descriptive methods, use of mixed techniques of extensive direct observation and participant observation, with the help of imagery and documentary resources. The systematic investigation of the relationships that exist between the residents of the city with MdM, with the collection and with the museum's founder, Giovanni Gallo, is also carried out here. Other important points of investigation within the dissertation are also: the role of design inside collective spaces and the study of key concepts such as social museology, culture, identity, marajoara memory and design for social innovation.
