As narrativas da migração entre o relato biográfico e o discurso mediático: o caso da imigração brasileira recente em Portugal

Abstract

Perspetivar a migração como resultado de processos multidimensionais faz com que não seja surpreendente o fato de que, atualmente, a comunidade brasileira seja a maior comunidade imigrante em Portugal. Em 2020, os cidadãos brasileiros residentes no país representavam 27,8% do total da população imigrante (SEF, 2021). Após um período de desaceleração desta rota migratória na primeira metade da segunda década do século XXI, a partir de 2015, os dados estatísticos mostram que a entrada de imigrantes brasileiros documentados em Portugal começou a crescer significativamente, atingindo um pico de aumento de 143,74% em 2018 em relação ao ano anterior (SEF, 2019). Acompanhando este crescimento, que é interpretado como uma terceira ou mesmo quarta vaga migratória por autores que se debruçaram sobre este fluxo, observa-se um igual crescente interesse dos média brasileiros em se produzir conteúdos televisivos nos quais essas migrações e seus sujeitos são representados. Diante desse contexto, esta pesquisa foi planeada e desenvolvida com o objetivo de se investigar como as representações sociais que envolvem as experiências e vivências migratórias veiculadas no discurso mediático em contexto brasileiro se relacionam com aquelas que são relatadas pelos próprios imigrantes brasileiros que migraram para a região Norte de Portugal nos últimos anos. Para o efeito, foram conduzidas duas pesquisas empíricas: uma análise do discurso e sócio-semiótica dos episódios que compõem a primeira temporada da série televisiva Portugal pelos Brasileiros, veiculada no Brasil no início de 2018, e a coleta e análise de Histórias de Vida de imigrantes brasileiros que migraram para o Norte de Portugal entre 2015 e 2020. A análise dos resultados a partir de uma perspetiva comparativa permitiu tecer conclusões sobre a influência dos média na construção coletiva e disseminação de representações sociais sobre o fenômeno, tendo-se especial atenção ao fato destes discursos englobarem relatos de cunho biográfico dos próprios migrantes. Apesar de se considerar esta uma importante movimentação da televisão em se reposicionar como um player importante dentre os meios de comunicação utilizados como fonte de informação sobre o fenômeno e seus sujeitos, contribuindo para a sua visibilidade social por meio da visualidade, não é possível negligenciar o quanto o recorte que é feito de um fenômeno tão plural como a emigração brasileira para Portugal e o uso da abordagem biográfica no contexto mediático podem ser vistos como decisões estratégicas e que atendem a interesses que, frequentemente, não se deixam transparecer nos conteúdos mediáticos.

When migration is portraited as a result of multidimensional processes, it is not surprising that the Brazilian community is currently the largest immigrant community in Portugal. In 2020, documented Brazilian immigrants residing in the country represented 27.8% of the total immigrant population (SEF, 2021). After a period of deceleration of this migratory route in the first half of the second decade of the 21st century, from 2015 onwards, statistical data show that the entry of documented Brazilian immigrants in Portugal began to grow significantly, reaching a peak increase of 143.74 % in 2018 compared to the previous year (SEF, 2018, 2019). Accompanying this growth, which has already been interpreted as a third or even fourth migratory wave by authors who have focused on this flow, there is an equal growing interest in the Brazilian media in representing these migrations and their subjects. Given this context, this research was planned and developed with the objective of investigating how the social representations that involve the migratory experiences and experiences conveyed in the media discourse in the Brazilian media panorama relate to those that are reported by Brazilian immigrants themselves who migrated to the North region of Portugal in recent years. For that purpose, two empirical researches were carried out: a discourse and socio-semiotic analysis of the five episodes of the first season of the television series Portugal dos Brasileiros, broadcasted in Brazil in early 2018, and the collection and analysis of Life Stories of Brazilian immigrants who migrated to the North of Portugal between 2015 and 2020. When comparing the results of these two empirical studies, it was possible to elucidate the similarities and differences in the discourse about Brazilian immigration in Portugal that is broadcasted in the Brazilian media and the one that comes from first-person narratives. This comparative perspective allowed us to draw conclusions about the influence of the media in the collective construction and dissemination of social representations about the phenomenon, with special attention to the fact that these discourses encompass first-person accounts of the migrants themselves. Despite considering this an important move by television to reposition itself as an important player among the media used as a source of information about this migratory phenomenon and its subjects, contributing to its social visibility through visuality, it is not possible to neglect the fact that the framing that is made of a phenomenon as plural as Brazilian emigration to Portugal and the use of the biographical approach in the media context can be seen as strategic decisions that meet interests that often do not show up in the media content itself.
