As representações de estrangeiros na obra de Ondjaki

Abstract

É de extrema importância que se encontrem representações políticas e sociais na literatura. Para isso é necessário um conjunto de opiniões e ideias, ao seja, qualquer imagem /representação necessita de uma tomada de consciência. Ao longo das suas obras, Ondjaki apresenta uma grande tendência para escrever críticas sociais. Este, consegue mostrar não só a sociedade em que está inserido, como também as críticas e as mudanças que são necessárias. No entanto, a forma de representação dos estrangeiros, não é homogénea a todas as nacionalidades. Aliado à representação dos estrangeiros, encontramos também representações da população angolana, uma vez que é impossível evitar que ao retratar a imagem do «outro» não surja a própria representação.

It is imperative to find social and political representations in Literature. To do so, a set of ideas and opinions is needed, that is, any image/representation needs to be conscious. Throughout his works, Ondjaki presents a great tendency to write social reviews. He not only manages to show us the society he lives in, but also delivers the considerations and changes which are necessary for that society. However, the way foreigners are represented is not homogeneous for all nationalities. Allying to the foreigners representation, we can also find representations of the Angolan people, taking into account that it is impossible to avoid having the emergence of the representation itself as we picture the image of the "other".
