Adolescência e violência sexual facilitada pela tecnologia pós-rutura relacional: revisão sistemática

Abstract

Os adolescentes utilizam os dispositivos tecnológicos que têm ao seu dispor para estabelecer relacionamentos íntimos. Este contexto possibilita a violência nas relações de intimidade, nomeadamente, a violência sexual, integrada num conceito amplo que se refere à violência sexual facilitada pela tecnologia, a qual engloba também outros fenómenos (e.g. sexting). Este estudo que realizamos consiste numa revisão sistemática da literatura, com o objetivo de identificar investigações acerca da violência sexual facilitada pela tecnologia em adolescentes vítimas, no contexto específico de rutura de um relacionamento íntimo. Seguindo as diretrizes PRISMA, foram realizadas pesquisas, em dezembro de 2022, em sete bases eletrónicas para a inclusão de estudos quantitativos, qualitativos, ou mistos, publicados em Português, Espanhol ou Inglês, sendo que 22 foram considerados elegíveis. A maioria foi publicada muito recentemente (no ano 2022) e desenvolvidos na Europa. Os estudos retratam a prevalência, motivações, impacto, percepções, estratégias de coping e outros resultados, no contexto de rutura de relacionamento. De forma geral, os resultados espelham a atualidade do tema e a necessidade de maior investimento científico para os diferentes contextos em que a violência sexual facilitada pela tecnologia ocorre, nomeadamente na população adolescente. Implicações para a prática para investigações futuras são discutidas.

Adolescents utilize the technological devices at their disposal to establish intimate relationships. Within this context, the occurrence of violence in intimate relationships, specifically sexual violence, becomes a reality. This encompasses a broad concept that refers to technology-facilitated sexual violence, which also includes other phenomena such as sexting. The study we conducted consists of a systematic literature review aimed at identifying research on technology-facilitated sexual violence against adolescent victims within the specific context of relationship dissolution. Following the PRISMA guidelines, searches were conducted in December 2022 across seven electronic databases to include quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method studies published in Portuguese, Spanish, or English. A total of 22 studies were considered eligible. The majority of these studies were published very recently (in 2022) and conducted in Europe. These studies portray the prevalence, motivations, impact, perceptions, coping strategies, and other outcomes within the context of relationship dissolution. Overall, the results reflect the timeliness and relevance of the topic, emphasizing the need for greater scientific investment in understanding the various contexts in which technology-facilitated sexual violence occurs, particularly among the adolescent population. Implications for future research and practice are discussed.
