O contributo da inovação social para a Indústria 5.0

Abstract

A presente dissertação resulta de um projeto de investigação, no âmbito do 2° ano do Mestrado em Engenharia e Gestão de Operações, onde a principal finalidade foi analisar o contributo que a inovação social tem no paradigma da Indústria 5.0. A inovação social é considerada uma estratégia relevante para superar alguns dos desafios sociais, económicos, políticos e ambientais do século XXI. O seu conceito compreende a geração de novas ideias (produtos, serviços e modelos), que simultaneamente atendem às necessidades sociais e criam novas relações ou colaborações. Por outras palavras, são inovações que beneficiam a sociedade e aumentam sua capacidade de ação. Numa outra perspetiva, a indústria 5.0 é um termo que define uma nova fase industrial, na qual o potencial tecnológico é aliado ao potencial humano para gerar uma indústria mais sustentável e resiliente. A forma como as duas realidades interagem e se influenciam parece suscitar cada vez mais interesse pelas mais variadas entidades. Perante isto, procedeu-se à realização de uma revisão sistemática da literatura que caracterizou a metodologia utilizada no presente estudo, de maneira a responder às perguntas de investigação propostas e analisar a relação entre os dois cenários. A revisão foi elaborada tendo em conta um espaço temporal que considerou o período de tempo entre o ano de 2017 e o ano de 2023, resultando num total de 22 artigos considerados, após aplicação dos critérios de exclusão e classificação inerentes à metodologia utilizada. Ficou evidente a ideia de que esta é uma área de pesquisa emergente, com a maioria dos estudos selecionados a terem origem a partir do ano de 2021. Estes mostraram também que a inovação social revela influência no âmbito da Indústria 5.0, facilitada por tecnologias revolucionárias, como é o caso da Inteligência Artificial, tendo, no entanto, que levar em consideração algumas barreiras sociais à implementação do novo paradigma referente à Quinta Revolução Industrial.

This dissertation is the result of a research project, in the 2nd year of the Master in Operations Engineering and Management, where the main purpose was to analyse the contribution that social innovation has in the paradigm of Industry 5.0. Social innovation is considered a relevant strategy to overcome some of the social, economic, political and environmental challenges of the 21st century. Its concept comprises the generation of new ideas (products, services, and models), which simultaneously address social needs and create new relationships or collaborations. In other words, they are innovations that benefit society and increase its capacity for action. From another perspective, Industry 5.0 is a term that defines a new industrial phase, in which technological potential is combined with human potential to generate a more sustainable and resilient industry. The way these two realities interact and influence each other seems to be attracting more and more interest from the most varied entities. In view of this, a systematic literature review was carried out to characterize the methodology used in this study in order to answer the proposed research questions and analyse the relationship between the two scenarios. The review was prepared taking into account a temporal space that considered the time period between the year 2017 and the year 2023, resulting in a total of 22 articles considered, after applying the exclusion and classification criteria inherent to the methodology used. It was evident that this is an emerging research area, with most of the selected studies originating from the year 2021. These also showed that social innovation shows influence in the scope of Industry 5.0, facilitated by revolutionary technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence, having, however, to take into consideration some social barriers to the implementation of the new paradigm concerning the Fifth Industrial Revolution.
