O retrato do lugar: fotografia e mapeamento de Areosa, Viana do Castelo

Abstract

O retrato pressupõe uma forma de olhar o território, pela forma como se compõe e enquadra mas sobretudo por aquilo que por detrás dele se reproduz, altera e transforma, geográfica e culturalmente. Neste sentido, a reflexão em volta do termo de retrato do lugar pressupõe a leitura do espaço através de dois instrumentos metodológicos – pela fotografia e pelo mapeamento, que assumem um caráter de mediatização, construindo um diálogo entre a paisagem e o que nela se vivencia. Sendo a imagem compreendida como um elemento com um nível significativo de subjetividade, na medida em que pode simular diversas interpretações sob um espaço, por um lado a aproximação feita através da fotografia transmite uma forma seletiva de interpretação do lugar, na qual as escolhas do enquadramento dos elementos e do cenário fotografado são pensadas e revelam uma forma singular de interpretação do lugar. Por outro lado, o mapeamento do território, demarca-se não só pela morfologia singu lar que o carateriza [através das relações altimétricas e planimétricas dos elementos, da sua composição e utilização no espaço] como também pela exploração psicogeográfica do território, caraterizada pela forma adaptação do ser humano na forma e configuração do lugar. Portanto, esta reflexão permite analisar o lugar e a forma como se compõe, utilizando estes dois instrumentos de reconhecimento do território, através do estudo de quatro fragmentos do território, selecionados pelas suas particularidades de organização espacial bem como a relação com a rede hidrográfica, sendo o sistema primordial que estabelece relação entre o litoral e a encosta montanhosa.

A portrait presupposes a way of looking at the territory, by the way it is composed and framed but, above all, by what is being reproduced, altered and transformed behind, geo graphically and culturally. In this sense, the reflection around the term portrait of the place presupposes the reading of the space through methodological instruments – through photography and mapping, which assume a mediatization character, building a dialogue between the landscape and what is experienced in it. Since the image is understood as an element with a significant level of subjectivity, it can simulate different interpretations of a space. On the one hand, the approach made through photography transmits a selective form of interpretation of the place, in which the framing choices of the elements and the photo graphed scenery are thought out and reveal a unique way of interpreting the place. On the other hand, the mapping of the territory, being fundamental for understanding the space on a more approximate scale, is defined by the multiple planimetric and altimetric relation ships of the compositional elements of the place, establishing rules for its composition and use. Therefore, this reflection allows us to analyse the place and the way it is composed, us ing these two instruments to recognize the territory, through the study of four territory frag ments, selected for their particularities of spatial organization, as well as the relationship with the hydrographic network, being the primordial system that establishes a relationship between the coast and the mountain slope.
