Avaliação das representações sociais sobre uma experiência de educação para a saúde em ontexto escolar

Abstract

O presente estudo centra-se na problemática da avaliação das representações sociais sobre uma experiência de educação para a saúde em contexto escolar, procurando-se fazer uma avaliação do trabalho desenvolvido através da recolha de pontos de vista de alguns actores significativos que nele participaram, tendo também como objectivo melhorar a qualidade da escola e contribuir para o desenvolvimento integral das crianças e jovens. No enquadramento teórico são analisadas algumas orientações subjacentes à problemática da educação para a saúde, tendo em conta os agentes educativos, os aspectos normativos e as áreas de intervenção definidas, procurando fazer uma reflexão da sua contextualização. Dentro do possível e do ponto de vista teórico procuramos compreender através da opinião de autores como são compreendidas algumas práticas pedagógicas, dentro de um enfoque projectual ou programático da educação para a saúde e da avaliação na procura de esclarecer algumas das implicações impostas à realidade em contexto. Tendo em conta a complexidade do tema, com este estudo pretende-se verificar até que ponto a avaliação realizada restitui os objectivos incluídos no programa inicial, procurando saber os pontos fortes e fracos da acção desenvolvida. Foram administrados inquéritos por questionário aos alunos, encarregados de educação e aos professores. Foram analisadas as avaliações dos Directores de Turmas e ainda um registo de opinião em relação à cantina. Para alem disso, houve uma observação constante do processo em desenvolvimento. No início do nosso estudo o desemprego estava a emergir e as famílias começavam a viver dias angustiantes. A escola teve de se adaptar e desenvolver estratégias de intervenção. Numa primeira fase os inquéritos por questionários ajudaram a compreender e conhecer melhor o contexto escolar e, numa segunda fase, os questionários temáticos por áreas de intervenção de educação para a saúde desde a alimentação, sexualidade, bulling procuraram implementar uma dinâmica igual em todas as turmas e ao mesmo tempo, permitindo conhecer as representações dos alunos e dos professores em relação às temáticas impostas pelo Ministério da Educação. A alimentação é a área mais trabalhada em todos os ciclos de ensino e aquela que recebe maior adesão. O bulling pelos dados deste estudo apresenta pouca representação. Na área da sexualidade existem ainda muitas necessidades de intervenção a nível de conteúdos. Os professores não estão todos preparados nem interessados na abordagem das questões da educação para a saúde, nem todos estão interessados em fazer formação nessas áreas.

The present study is centred on the question of the evaluation of social representations on an experience of health education in a school context, seeking to make an assessment of the work carried out through the gathering of the points of view of some of the significant actors who participated in it. Its additional aim is to improve the quality of the school and contribute to the inclusive development of children and young people. In the theoretical framework, some guidelines underlying the question of health education are analysed, taking into account the education personnel and the normative aspects, and the defined areas of intervention, seeking to make a reflection on their contextualization. As far as possible and from the theoretical point of view, we have endeavoured to understand, through the opinion of the researchers, how some teaching practices are understood, within the focus of a project or programme of health education and assessment, in an endeavour to clarify some of the implications imposed on the reality in context. Taking the complexity of the theme into account, the aim of this study is to verify to what extent the evaluation carried out answers to the aims included in the initial programme, endeavouring to know the strong and weak points of the action taken. Questionnaires were conducted on students, parents or guardians, and teachers. Assessments made by the Form Teachers were analysed, as well as an opinion survey with regard to the canteen. In addition, while this was in progress, the process was constantly monitored. At the start of our study, unemployment was manifesting itself and families were starting to go through difficulties. The school had to adapt and develop intervention strategies. In the first phase, the questionnaires helped us to understand and get to know better the school context and in the second phase the theme-based questionnaires (divided into areas of intervention for health education like nutrition, sexuality, bullying) sought to implement the same dynamic in all the classes and at the same time, making it possible to know the students’ and the teachers’ representations with regard to the themes required by the Ministry of Education. Nutrition was the area most insisted on at all stages of education. Bullying, judging by the date in this study, is hardly present in this context. In the area of sexuality there is still a great need for taking measures at the content level. Not all the teachers are prepared for, or interested in, dealing with questions of health education, nor are they all interested in teaching in these areas.
