Estórias da nossa história : um projecto de educação histórica e para o património na cidade de Vila Nova de Famalicão

Abstract

O presente trabalho, realizado no âmbito do Património e Turismo Cultural, teve como objecto de estudo principal a Vila de Famalicão no século XIX, nomeadamente as influências da emigração brasileira no desenvolvimento social, económico e cultural, da actual cidade. Reflectiu-se, ainda, na pertinência de promover a interpretação e a identificação de significados sobre o património local, divulgando-o como parte de uma história que importa valorizar. Com estas duas preocupações presentes, procurou-se, por um lado, investigar as condições que fomentaram aquele fenómeno de mobilidade e as suas implicações no concelho, em particular na Vila, referenciando o edificado legado bem como as personalidades locais cuja história se integra no objecto de estudo; e, por outro lado, valorizar o património da cidade de Vila Nova de Famalicão envolvendo, na sua exploração e divulgação, um público-alvo em idade escolar. Com o intuito de dar corpo a esta intenção, desenvolveu-se o projecto “Estórias da nossa História” com duas turmas do 6º ano de escolaridade, em que os alunos ao longo de nove sessões observaram e interpretaram um conjunto de fontes que representavam o património ligado à emigração brasileira e conceberam um panfleto com vista a participar na divulgação desse património. Os alunos construíram as suas aprendizagens em vários níveis de compreensão histórica, mas todos se mostraram entusiasmados ao considerarem-se divulgadores activos do património local. Em suma, este estudo de Educação Histórica e para o Património pretendeu valorizar a Cidade de Famalicão, nomeadamente a herança referente à emigração brasileira no século XIX, apresentando-a aos alunos numa articulação significativa com os conteúdos curriculares da disciplina de História e Geografia de Portugal. Neste trabalho defende-se que o conhecimento do Património local poderá constituir uma estratégia de valorização da cidade, numa perspectiva integradora e agregadora de todos os cidadãos, considerando as potencialidades da interpretação do mesmo na definição de um projecto de Turismo Cultural.

This work was carried out in the field of Heritage and Cultural Tourism and focused on the Famalicão town in the nineteenth century, particularly the influences that the migration to Brazil had over the social, economic and cultural development of the current city. In this way, this study also centred on the relevance of promoting the identification and interpretation of meanings about the local heritage, to be disseminated as part of a history worth to be valued. Having those concerns in mind, it was aimed, on one hand, to investigate the conditions that fostered that phenomenon of mobility and its implications for the region, the town in particular, referencing the built heritage as well as local personalities whose history is part of the object of this study; on the other hand, to value the heritage of Vila Nova de Famalicão city involving a targeted schooling group in its exploration and dissemination. In order to operationalize those intentions, the project "Stories of our History" was carried out with 6th grade students attending two classes, along nine sessions. The students observed and interpreted a set of sources picturing the heritage related to the Brazilian migration and, conceived a leaflet to be distributed to the population. The students constructed their learning at different levels of historical understanding, but all of them appeared enthusiastic to see themselves of active disseminators of the local heritage. In summary, this study of History Education and for the Heritage intended to value the City of Famalicão, particularly the legacy of the Brazilian emigrants in the nineteenth century, presenting it to students in a significant interrelationship with the curriculum content of the History and Geography of Portugal subject. In this work it is argued that knowledge of local heritage can be a strategy for city development, in an integrative perspective of all citizens, considering the potential of its interpretation on the definition of a Cultural Tourism project.
