The use of cyclodextrins (CDs) in the textile field has been growing since the 1980s. Derivatives, rather than native CDs, have been applied to materials functionalization, modification of dyeing processes and even in the bioremediation of waste from the textile processing. Due to the size of the cavity, more soluble derivatives of the β-CDs are more frequently used to create new functionalized materials. As soon as the desired interaction between the CD and compound to encapsulate is ensured, the research in this field starts to focus on two aspects: synthesis of novel CD derivatives and processes to link the CD to textile fibers, which allows durable functionalized materials without changing their intrinsic properties. The presentation aims to critically review the application of CDs in the functionalization of materials and modification of textile processes.por
