Princípios para a aplicação do conceito passive house em Portugal

Abstract

O actual padrão de consumo energético, baseado sobretudo no recurso ao petróleo e com os índices de crescimento que tem registado, está na génese de muitos problemas com que a humanidade se depara. As reservas de petróleo são finitas e caminham para a sua extinção. A segurança e as condições do abastecimento energético têm em sido postas em causa. A actual concentração de CO₂ na atmosfera é já uma ameaça à estabilidade do planeta. Se nada for feito, a humanidade terá de se adaptar a viver com uma temperatura média superior em 6°C. Nesse cenário, o equilíbrio do planeta terá já sido totalmente posto em causa. Mudar de paradigma energético não é só o desafio do futuro. No presente, têm de ser dadas respostas firmes e traçados objectivos ambiciosos para que tal mudança se verifique. É fundamental reduzir o consumo e alterar as fontes de energia. Segundo Wolfgang Feist, “The best energy is less energy”. Feist defende que a eficiência energética é a mais importante, mais económica e mais segura opção energética. O sector dos edifícios, como grande consumidor de energia, tem um considerável potencial de poupança energética. O conceito Passive House surge, assim, como uma resposta eficiente sob o ponto de vista energético, económico e do conforto. O desafio passa por aplicar o conceito Passive House na construção em Portugal e por transportar o parque edificado existente para padrões de grande eficiência energética e conforto e com custos acessíveis. Deste modo, poderá ser dado um importante contributo para a redução do consumo energético e das emissões de CO₂ e para a independência energética do país.

The current energy consumption, based particularly in oil resources and with its growth rates, is the basis of many problems that human kind faces. The oil reserves are finite and are going towards its end. The safety of energy supply has been constantly challenged. The current CO₂ concentration in the atmosphere is already a threat to the stability of the planet. If nothing is done, human kind will have to adjust our lives and way of living with a temperature increase by 6 ° C. In this scenario, the balance of the planet has already been totally undermined. To switch the energy paradigm it isn’t a future challenge. Right now it must be given solutions and set ambitious targets for such switch occurs. It is essential to reduce consumption and change energy sources. According to Wolfgang Feist “The best energy is less energy”. Feist defends that energy efficiency is the most important, the most economic and the safest energy option. The buildings sector, as a major energy consumer, has considerable potential for energy savings. The Passive House concept arises as an efficient response in terms of energy, economy and comfort. The challenge is to apply the Passive House concept in building sector in Portugal and to move the existing building stock standards to high energy efficiency and comfort standards in an affordable way. This may be an important contribution to the reduction of energy consumption and CO₂ emissions aiming the country’s energy independence.
