Filosofia: um abrir de horizontes: será o método socrático uma boa forma de cativar os alunos?

Abstract

O presente trabalho intitulado A filosofia um abrir de horizontes: Será o método socrático uma boa forma de cativar os alunos?, corresponde ao relatório de estágio em Ensino de Filosofia no Ensino Secundário que decorreu no ano letivo 2012/2013, na turma 11º B da Escola Secundária D.Maria II, localizada em Braga. Durante o estágio foram lecionadas as seguintes unidades: O conhecimento e a racionalidade científica e tecnológica. No presente relatório defendemos a importância da tradição socrática na sala de aula, associada à disciplina de filosofia enquanto disciplina que abre os horizontes dos alunos, ou seja, pretendemos defender que esta tradição (diálogo e debate) na sala de aula contribui de forma positiva para o ensino da filosofia, uma vez que proporciona aulas mais dinâmicas, motivadoras e dialogadas suscitando assim nos alunos uma melhor compreensão, discussão e exame crítico entre os alunos levando-os a ser mais críticos. O relatório divide-se em quatro capítulos. No primeiro capítulo fazemos uma breve explicação do tema, o plano e o contexto em que foi aplicado. No segundo capítulo, tratamos da metodologia no ensino da filosofia e de que forma o uso exclusivo do método expositivo nas aulas pode prejudicar o ensino da filosofia. Seguidamente, no terceiro capítulo, dedicamo-nos à análise do método socrático de ensino, para, no quarto capítulo tratarmos da prática lectiva, expondo de forma mais aprofundada, a estrutura das aulas, a descrição mais pormenorizada da leccionação e respectiva avaliação. Contém ainda, uma introdução, conclusão, bibliografia e anexos.

The present report entitled Philosophy as a horizons opener: Can the Socratic Method be a good way to engage students? is the internship report in Philosophy teaching in High School held in the academic year 2012/2013 at D. Maria II school, sited in Braga. The internship was conducted on the 11th year, class B. During the internship the following dimensions were taught – Knowledge and Scientific and Technological Rationality. In this report we advocate the importance of the Socratic tradition in the classroom as well as philosophy seen as a discipline that opens horizons to the student, i.e., we intend to uphold this tradition (dialogue and debate) in the classroom has a huge positive contribution to the teaching of philosophy. This teaching method offers more dynamic, motivational and dialogued classes thus raising a better understanding, discussion and critical examination by the students causing them to be more critical. This report is divided into four chapters. In the first chapter we find it necessary to make a brief explanation of the topic, its agenda and context in which the research project was applied. In the second one, after having covered the whole context, we decided to address the methodology in philosophy and how the exclusive use of the expository method can undermine the teaching of philosophy. Subsequently, the third chapter is dedicated to the analysis of the Socratic Method in teaching. And finally in the fourth chapter we deal with the teaching practice, where we explain in greater depth the structure of classes and do an assessment and a more detailed description of teaching. In addition to the division of this report into chapters, as listed above, an introduction, conclusion, bibliography and a range of attachments are also included, which allows us to browse through the materials used in teaching practice during the length of this internship.
