Cross-story(ies) : fictional historiographical construction in Campos de Lágrimas by José Jorge Letria

Abstract

This approach focuses on the juvenile novel Campos de Lágrimas (2000) by José Jorge Letria, one of the most recognised and prolific authors in Portuguese Literature and potentially suited for younfg readers. In this fictional account of unmistakable historical inspiration, José Jorge Letria recreates an event of the collective memory, the European in this case, which is the Nazi Holocaust (and also implicitly the Spanish Civil War), describing the journey of a Portuguese family to the city of Weimar and to the concentration camp of Buchenwald.

Neste estudo, propõe-se uma análise de Campos de Lágrimas, de José Jorge Letria, narrativa juvenil na qual se recria ficcionalmente uma época/acontecimento histórica/o europeu muito relevante: o holocausto Nazi e implicitamente a Guerra Civil de Espanha.
