The climate changes are the main environmental threat of the 21st century, with environmental, social and economic consequences of high dimension. This concern for reducing gas emissions responsible for visible global warming, in addition to the recent crisis in which some countries are, in relation to the construction sector, presents the rehabilitation of buildings as a viable alternative to the sector. This area appears as a remarkable solution to improve the thermal performance of buildings, as well as an excellent way to achieve optimal values of energy efficiency and sustainability in the same. In the context of thermal rehabilitation of buildings, it is important to use the ideas and natural passive techniques, which lead to greater sustainability. Therefore, biomimetic seems to be a good approach for the resolution of these problems, since it has a wide range of design solutions synthesized by natural selection with technical implementation later in optimized projects. In this context, the main goal of this thesis is the development of a solution based on a fibrous system with thermal insulation function, to apply in buildings rehabilitation as biomimetic based-solutions. Having said that, we analyzed various solutions applied by nature to achieve these features and mimic materials and structures to ensure a similar performance. From among the various cases examined, it as been selected the cactus of the wilderness, by its ability to protect itself against the high solar radiation, through its folds and ribs that give the ability to reflect heat and to promote the possibility to generate shadow areas, at the expense of its reduced surface area. On the basis of this idea, developing a physical model for the test based on a structure in blades, considering several variables including (material types, blades angles orientation and radiation direction of incidence). The behavior of each system was analyzed from the results recorded by thermocouples and by the thermography machine. The results proved to be positive, on the part of the jute fiber covering structure with 15 opening blades. This fact allows us to conclude that, the biomimetic structure is considered a good constructive solution, based on natural techniques, using preferably sustainable materials and also contributing to the reduction of energy consumption, as well as to the increase of thermal comfort in buildings. |
