endogrupo e black sheep effect.
When a transgression occurs, the primary reaction is to inflict harm on the perpetrator to reestablish balance Another possible reaction is the compensation of the victim. We can consider the existence of two types of justice: retributive and restorative This study intended to evaluate the reaction of witnesses to situations of iniquity, depending on the intensity of the injustice and the social identity of the perpetrator and the victim. 156 college students participated in a modified version of the Third-Party Punishment Game The task of the participants was to decide how many points they would assign to the Receptor (compensation) or withdraw from the Dictator (punishment). It was found that the participants are sensitive to the inequity of situations and seek to resolve the injustice by choosing the two types of justice, regardless of the group to which the victim and the offender belong. Participants were sensitive to the intergroup relations when the division was fair and manifested predictable effects: ingroup favoritism and black sheep effect. There seems to be a tendency for the restoration of equity in situations of inequity that overlaps the impact of intergroup relations. |
