aplicadas as micro-ondas.
do pavimento a profundidades consideráveis.
The use of microwave radiation for heating materials starts to become more relevant, since it is possible to obtain the same effect as the traditional heating, but with energy savings and shorter processing times. The heating by microwave is based on the transfer of energy from an electromagnetic field through the excitation of molecular dipoles in the material in which the microwaves are being applied. When the electric field is applied, the molecules tend to align themselves with the field. When the electric field is removed, the molecules return to their unaligned state, dissipating the energy absorbed as heat. Since the microwaves have the nearly instantaneous ability to penetrate the material at depths of several centimeters or more, the heat is generated along the volume of all material. The final result turns out to be a fast and homogenous heating pavement at considerable depths. By using this technology, it is possible to highlight two important aspects: the heating for the maintenance of roads, including the repair of cracks, and the heating of recovered pavement, which reveals lower levels of air pollution and late aging bitumen. The present study has the purpose of deepening the knowledge of the behavior of bituminous mixtures when heated by microwave. In addition, based on the described laboratory studies, it is expected that in the near future it may be possible to obtain a model that allows the application of this technique in pavement rehabilitation situations according to the behavior of all the elements present in the work. |
