Abstract

Gísli Pálsson é professor de Antropologia na Faculdade de Ciências Sociais da Universidade da Islândia. Nos últimos anos tem desenvolvido investigação sobre genómica, tratando-se de um renomado especialista em impactos sociais da biotecnologia, em particular no que concerne à recolha, armazenamento e circulação de material biológico humano e informação médica. É autor, co-autor e organizador de diversos livros, nomeadamente The Textual Life of Savants: Ethnography, Iceland, and the Linguistic Turn (1995, Harwood Academic Publishers), Travelling Passions: The Hidden Life of Vilhjalmur Stefansso (2005, University of Manitoba Press and University Press of New England) e Nature and Society: Anthropological Perspectives (1996, Routledge).
