dados por meio dos seguintes métodos: produções dos alunos; gravações áudio das aulas;
This study was developed within the scope of a pedagogical intervention carried out in the contexts of 1st and 2nd cycles, respectively in the 1st and 6th grades, with the purpose of ascertaining the contribution of research activities in the learning of Organization and Processing of Data (OPD) topics. To accomplish this goal, the following research questions were outlined: How do students performing the investigative activities in OPD learning?; What difficulties do students reveal while performing investigative activities in learning OPD topics ?; What perceptions do students have about learning OPD topics through investigative activities?. Throughout the interventions in the two educational contexts, in order to develop conclusions for the research questions formulated, data collection was carried out through the following methods: student productions; audio recordings of classes; questionnaires; observation grids; and documentary analysis. The conclusions drawn from the analysis and interpretation of the data show that students were able to perform investigative activities in the learning of OPD topics, albeit with some weaknesses, namely: in the definition of the subject and the research questions and in the analysis of the data, particularly the 6th grade students, given the openness in the definition of the subject and the greater complexity of the research that they proposed; in the elaboration of the conclusions the students of both grades had shown to be able to formulate them, although in some groups these had been little developed. The data collection and representation were the activities in which the students showed more confidence, even those from the first grade with the limitations typical of their age. In the exploration of the proposed activities, in addition to the difficulties experienced in the development of the activities inherent to the research cycle, students also showed difficulties in the management of group work and in their level of knowledge on the field of OPD, related to organizational and representation strategies and statistical measures. After carrying out the investigative activities in learning OPD topics, students show willingness to return to work with this methodology in the future, both in OPD learning and in other mathematical topics. These are the advantages of this methodology to develop OPD topics: the learning it allows to develop, the playfulness and the possibility of working in a group. Even though most of the students did not recognize disadvantages, some of them pointed out the group work and the disturbance felt in the classroom. The development of investigative activities in OPD learning indicates that this is a methodology to be adopted in mathematics classes, due to the advantages underlined by students regarding in learning this subject. |
