A mediação intercultural na inclusão, desenvolvimento e reconhecimento dos imigrantes no concelho de Braga

Abstract

O presente trabalho resulta de um projeto de investigação-ação realizado no âmbito do Estágio Académico do 2º ano do Mestrado em Educação, área de especialização em Mediação Educacional e Supervisão na Formação, o qual tem como finalidade promover a interculturalidade na cidade de Braga, mobilizando os recursos disponíveis através da mediação intercultural. Através de uma metodologia de investigação-ação, assente no paradigma sócio crítico este projeto tem como objetivos de investigação compreender as potencialidades da mediação para a promoção da interculturalidade e analisar novas formas de potenciar a inclusão dos migrantes na cidade de Braga. Os principais objetivos de intervenção são promover o diálogo intercultural e favorecer o (re)conhecimento das diversas culturas no Município de Braga. Para a concretização destes objetivos implementamos a Biblioteca Humana em diferentes contextos: numa Biblioteca Pública da cidade, com jovens e adultos, numa Escola Secundária com estudantes do 9º e 12ºanos e na Feira do Livro de Braga. A Biblioteca Humana é um método de aproximação dos contadores de histórias com os seus Leitores-Ouvintes, com a intenção de criar um diálogo e uma interação entre os mesmos. Os Livros-Humanos contam suas histórias e experiências de vida, potenciando o respeito pelos direitos humanos e estimulando a compreensão e o reconhecimento mútuo. Os resultados revelam ser uma estratégia importante para o conhecimento e reconhecimento intercultural mútuo e para a valorização humana, particularmente revelador junto dos Leitores-Ouvintes jovens e adultos e dos Livros-Humanos.

This work is the result of an action-research project carried out within the scope of the second year Academic Internship of the Master in Education, specialized in Educational Mediation and Training Supervision, which aims to promote interculturality in the city of Braga, mobilizing the resources available through intercultural mediation. Through an action-research methodology, based on the socio- critical paradigm, this project aims to understand the potential of mediation for the promotion of interculturality and to analyze new ways of promoting the inclusion of migrants in the city of Braga. The main objectives of this intervention are to promote intercultural dialogue and to promote the acknowledgement of the different cultures in the Municipality of Braga. In order to achieve these objectives we implemented the Human Library in different contexts: a Public Library in the city, with young people and adults, a Secondary School with students from the 9th and 12th grades and the Book Fair in Braga. The Human Library is a method of approaching storytellers alongside their Reader-Listeners with the intention of creating dialogue and interaction between them. Human-Books tell their stories and life experiences, enhancing respect for human rights and stimulating understanding and mutual recognition. The results reveal to be an important strategy for mutual intercultural knowledge and acknowledgement and for human appreciation, particularly revealing among young and adult Reader- Listeners and Human-Books.
