Nota introdutória: do uno e múltiplo: as aporias do nosso desassossego

Abstract

[Excerto] O presente número da revista Comunicação e Sociedade é dedicado ao tema Género e heterossexualidade: discursos e imagens na publicidade e nos media. Na sua origem está um projecto de investigação com a mesma designação, associado ao CECS, onde durante cinco anos as editoras deste número exploraram os temas nos contextos de revistas femininas e do discurso noticioso da imprensa escrita de informação geral. Trata-se do primeiro volume dedicado ao assunto na linha de investigação “Linguagem e Interacção Social” e na colecção do CECS. Foi movido pelo desejo de contribuir para questionar a (re)produção continuada da ligação entre género e heterossexualidade que estabelece uma ligação causal entre sexo, género e desejo (Butler, 1990). Esta tarefa é tanto mais premente quanto mais desnecessários, obsoletos e regressivos são todos os ismos que se articulam em torno destas problemáticas. Dado a ênfase que colocamos no discurso e na imagem, importa perguntar como o género e a sexualidade podem estar imbricados neste tipo de eventos comunicativos e práticas sociais. [...]

[Excerpt] The present volume of the journal Comunicação e Sociedade (Communication and Society) is dedicated to the theme of Gender and heterosexuality: discourses and images in advertising and the media. It stems from a research project with an identical naming, within the scope of which the editors of this volume have explored the themes in the context of women’s magazines and general print media news discourse over the last 5 years. This is the first volume dedicated to this theme on the research strand of “Language and Social Interaction” and the CECS’ collection. It was encouraged by the desired contribution to questioning the continuing (re) production of the link between gender and heterosexuality that establishes a causal relationship between sex, gender and desire (Butler, 1990). This task is ever more urgent than the isms that are articulated about these issues are unnecessary, obsolete and regressive. Given the emphasis that we place on discourse and the image, it is relevant to question how gender and sexuality can be intertwined with this type of communicative events and social practices. [...]
