Perfis de dificuldades e preditores do desempenho da leitura em jovens

Abstract

As dificuldades de aprendizagem da leitura (DAL), é uma das lacunas mais presentes em crianças e jovens adolescentes, sendo uma das causas do insucesso escolar. Estas dificuldades começam por se manifestar nas fases inicias de aprendizagem da leitura verificando que quando não são ultrapassadas condicionam percursos de insucesso que podem conduzir ao abandono escolar precoce. Este projeto tem como propósito contribuir para o aprofundamento desta problemática. Especificamente, e tomando como referencial o Modelo Simples de Leitura, pretende-se caracterizar os perfis de desempenho em leitura dos alunos que frequentam turmas PIEF (Programa Integrado de Educação e Formação) mistas de 1º e 2º ciclo. Na amostra prevê-se a inclusão de alunos integrados em turmas PIEF de 2.º ciclo da zona Norte. Serão administradas as seguintes medidas: Questionário de Caracterização Sociodemográfica; Bateria de Provas de Raciocínio; Teste de Avaliação de Fluência; Textos na Modalidade de Leitura - narrativo e Textos na Modalidade Oral - narrativo. Pretende-se que os resultados do projeto possam contribuir para a construção de respostas educativas adequadas a estes alunos bem como identificar as variáveis que melhor podem predizer o insucesso escolar, de jovens alunos integrados em turmas PIEF.

Reading learning difficulty is one of the most prevalent adversities among children and young teenagers, becoming one of the main causes of educational underachievement. These difficulties first surface in the inicial fases of reading learning. Verifying that when these difficulties are not overcome, they may condition academic failure which may lead to premature school abandonment.The purpose of this project is to contribute to the further development of this issue, specifically taking into account the referential of The Simple Reading Method. The aim is to characterise Reading Performance Profiles of the students who attend “PIEF” classes (Integrated Programme for Education and Training) that comprises students from the first and second cycle of the Portuguese Educational System. The sample envisions the integration of second cycle “PIEF” students from the North of the country. The following measures will be applied: a Sociodemographic Characterization Questionnaire; Series of Cognitive Reasoning Evaluations; Fluency Evaluation; Narrative Reading and Speaking Texts. The aim is that the results of this project may lead to the construction of adequate educational answers for these students as well as variables that may help predict academic failure of young students integrated in “PIEF” classes.
