Atitudes de Guardas Provisórios da Guarda Nacional Republicana face aos delinquentes

Abstract

O presente estudo tem como principal objetivo compreender se o contacto direto com os delinquentes altera as atitudes dos Guardas Provisórios/Formandos da Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) face aos mesmos. Para além disso, pretende verificar se as variáveis sociodemográficas e da personalidade têm influência sobre as atitudes. Para tal, foram aplicadas a Escala de Atitudes em Relação aos Delinquentes (EARD) e o Inventário da Personalidade NEO-FFI a uma amostra de 74 Guardas Provisórios/Formandos da GNR, em dois momentos distintos (antes e após a realização do estágio de formação). Os resultados revelaram que no segundo momento de avaliação os Guardas Provisórios/Formandos evidenciaram atitudes mais negativas face aos delinquentes do que no primeiro momento. Relativamente às variáveis sociodemográficas, apenas a experiência profissional prévia como militar se revelou estatisticamente significativa, e em relação às variáveis da personalidade não foram encontradas correlações estatisticamente significativas. Estes resultados salientam a importância do treino inicial e contínuo dos Guardas Provisórios/Formandos da GNR, sugerindo-se a introdução de uma componente psicossocial nesta formação, atendendo ao papel ressocializador que estes têm na sociedade.

The main objective of the present study is to understand if direct contact with offenders changes the attitudes of the National Republican Guard (GNR) Provisional Guards towards the offenders. In addition, it aims to analyse if sociodemographic and personality variables also influence these attitudes. The Attitude Scale towards Delinquents (EARD) and the NEO-FFI Personality Inventory were administered to a sample of 74 GNR Provisional Guards, in two distinct moments (before and after the internship). The results revealed that in the second moment of evaluation the GNR Provisional Guards evidenced more negative attitudes towards the delinquents than in the first moment. Regarding sociodemographic variables, only previous professional experience as military was statistically significant, and in relation to the personality variables no statistically significant correlations were found. These results emphasize the importance of the initial and continuous training of the GNR Provisional Guards, suggesting the introduction of a psychosocial component in this formation, given their role in the delinquents’ resocialization.
