A performatividade acadêmica dos estudantes usuários da biblioteca escolar: um estudo de caso num Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do nordeste Brasileiro

Abstract

As bibliotecas estão sendo obrigadas a se reinventarem à medida que o conteúdo se torna mais acessível via Internet, assim, o papel dessas bibliotecas se torna menos ligado a guarda dos livros e mais voltado a conectar leitores e construir conhecimentos, o que de certo modo se aproxima e potencializa a performance dos alunos. Este estudo tem como objetivo geral investigar a performatividade frente ao número de empréstimo domiciliar realizado numa biblioteca do Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Norte e, como específicos, identificar o desempenho dos estudantes perante o empréstimo domiciliar; conhecer o perfil socioeconômico e cultural dos estudantes que utilizam efetivamente a biblioteca e verificar as motivações dos estudantes quanto ao uso da biblioteca. Para alcançar os objetivos fez-se uso de uma pesquisa de caráter exploratório para aprofundar o tema, alinhada a uma abordagem de cariz qualitativo, com recurso ao método do estudo de caso e às técnicas da análise documental e da entrevista biográfica, tendo em vista a construção de retratos sociológicos de alunos frequentadores da biblioteca. Quanto aos resultados obtidos, foi possível constatar que: i) a situação socioeconômica dos alunos, de forma geral, apresenta complexidade por suas inúmeras determinações e variáveis e que o rendimento acadêmico dos educandos investigados está acima da média exigida pela organização didática da instituição; ii) os alunos que mais requisitam livros apresentam alto desempenho acadêmico; iii) os estudantes mais performáticos fazem uso da biblioteca para realizarem pesquisa, fomentarem trabalhos acadêmicos e leituras como lazer. Por fim, sugere-se, que este estudo seja ampliado no futuro com o intuito de abranger um quantitativo maior de estudantes na perspectiva de aprofundar mais esta temática.

As content becomes more accessible through the Internet, libraries are being forced to reinvent themselves, so, the role of these libraries becomes less about bookkeeping and more about connecting readers and building knowledge, which is somewhat approximates and improves student performance. This study aims to investigate the performativity regarding the number of home loans made in a library of the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte and, as specifics, to identify students' performance regarding home loans; to know the socioeconomic and cultural profile of the students that effectively use the library and to verify the motivations of the students regarding the use of the library. To achieve the objectives, an exploratory research was used to deepen the theme, aligned with a qualitative approach, using the case study method and the techniques of documentary analysis and biographical interview, in view of the construction of sociological portraits of students attending the library. Regarding the results obtained, it was found that: i) the socioeconomic situation of students, in general, presents complexity due to its numerous determinations and variables and that the academic performance of the students investigated is above the average required by the didactic organization of the institution; ii) students who order the most books have high academic performance; iii) the most performing students make use of the library to conduct research, foster academic work and read as leisure. Finally, it is suggested that this study be expanded in the future in order to include a larger number of students in order to further deepen this theme.
