O Impacto das flutuações cambiais na balança comercial

Abstract

O objetivo desta investigação é analisar empiricamente o impacto das flutuações cambiais na Balança Comercial, isto é, verificar qual o impacto da Taxa de Câmbio Efetiva Real (TCER) sobre a Balança Comercial portuguesa de 1996 a 2018. Neste estudo empírico, que utiliza a TCER para estudar o impacto da taxa de câmbio na Balança Comercial de Bens e Serviços, podemos concluir que o impacto é significativo, verificando-se que uma desvalorização na Taxa de Câmbio Efetiva Real, implica uma melhoria da Balança Comercial.

The objective of this research is to empirically analyse the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on the Trade Balance, in order to verify the impact of the Real Effective Exchange Rate on the Portuguese Trade Balance from 1996 to 2018. In this empirical study, which uses the REER to study the impact of the exchange rate on the Goods and Services Trade Balance, we can conclude that the impact is significant, since a devaluation in the Real Effective Exchange Rate implies an improvement in the Trade Balance.
