With increasing competition in the electronics product prodution markets, specifications for this type of products are increasingly emerging. In this way, the main objective of this dissertation, focus on the production of a functional component, from a printed film which is also functional, using IMD (In-mould Decoration) techniques for its procedures. First, a selection process was made for which materials to use throughout the entirety of the process, from the substrate, to the ink that will be printed, basing this selection on the results of some adhesion, elasticity and electrical caracterization tests, which allow to assess the conditions of the inks. At this stage, it was also made a planing of which structures would be printed, so that the film is functional, as intended. With the tests carried out and with the selection of the materials completed, and even before starting the printing process with the structures that were designed, the printing of the selected ink was tested with the selected material for the substrate, using the injection moulding process, to assist in obtaining some substrates, as well as a Doctor Blade, who carried out the printing tests. After printing, the same tests that were performed before, during the selection process for the ink, were performed again, with the intent of getting an idea of the changes that switching the substrate material produces, as well as understanding if this is the ideal substrate for the selected ink. Yet again, before starting the printing process, the oportunity arose to use the laser cutting and engraving equipment, in order to produce a mask or an engraving on the substrates, proceding to the printing of the results obtained with the help of the Doctor Blade. Finally, the screen printing process was carried out, being that during its execution, a new ink with similar characteristics to the one which was previously used was made available, and printing tests were carried out with both inks. After the procedures, the same three tests were again performed on the results, in order to evaluate their performance and to be able to conclude about all the processes that were made. |
