Desenvolvimento e otimização de um novo sistema de atuação para uma ortótese para membros inferiores

Abstract

Tendo em conta que nos dias de hoje ainda existem algumas lacunas no mercado das ortóteses para os membros inferiores, e com o objetivo de as colmatar é apresentado um novo conceito de ortótese, no âmbito dissertação do Mestrado Integrado em Engenharia Biomédica, que se intitula “Desenvolvimento e otimização de um novo sistema de atuação para uma ortótese para membros inferiores”. O objetivo principal deste trabalho é de conceber um conceito inovador de uma ortótese para os membros inferiores, procedendo-se à otimização do sistema de atuação desenvolvido num projeto de Dissertação anterior. Nesse contexto, foi efetuada uma breve explicação da anatomia dos membros inferiores, a análise biomecânica da marcha humana, e o estudo do estado da arte, abordando os materiais usados e as patologias associadas. Assim sendo, foi feita a abordagem aos objetivos do projeto, e estabeleceram-se as especificações de desempenho do dispositivo. Após os requisitos estabelecidos, e uma breve sistematização de todos as evoluções feitas até ao presente, analisaram-se as soluções para o sistema de atuação. Este dispositivo permite o bloqueio do membro inferior em vários ângulos, através de um sistema de encravamento. Antes de testar o funcionamento, procedeu-se ao seu dimensionamento, com a determinação das perdas de pressão e as características dos materiais utilizados. Na fase seguinte, procedeu-se ao fabrico e montagem da ortótese com o dispositivo, de acordo com as medidas do voluntário e realizaram-se os testes práticos necessários. Na realização dos testes preliminares e sistemáticos foram fotografados e filmados passadas do voluntario, com e sem a ortótese, permitindo verificar o correto funcionamento do dispositivo, e as melhorias significativas na sua marcha, aproximando-se a um paciente com marcha normal.

Taking into account that in the present time there are still some gaps in the orthosis market for the lower limbs, and with the objective to overcome those gaps, it is presented here a new concept of orthosis in the Integrated Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering, named "Development and optimization of a new actuation system for a lower limb orthosis". The main objective of this work is to design an innovative concept of an orthosis for the lower limbs, proceeding to the optimization of the actuation system of developed in the previous project. In this context, a brief explanation of the anatomy of the lower limbs, the biomechanical analysis of the human gait, and a study of the state of the art, addressing the materials used and the associated pathologies were discussed. Therefore, the project objectives were addressed, and the performance specifications of the device were established. After the established requirements, and a brief systematization of all the evolutions made up to the present, the solutions for the actuation system were analysed. This device allows lower limb blocking at various angles, through a locking system. Before testing its operation, the overall system was dimensioned, with the determination of pressure losses and the characteristics of the materials used. In the next step, the orthosis was produced and assembled with the device according to the measures of the volunteer followed with the performance of the necessary practical tests. In performing the preliminary and the systematic tests were photographed and videos the volunteer obtained with and without the orthosis, allowing the verification of the correct functioning of the device, and significant improvements in its gait, approaching a patient with normal gait.
