lacrimal, nomeadamente no tempo de rutura lacrimal (Non Invasive Break Up Time _ NIBUT), na
With growing of virtual and technological world, many of our everyday tasks are reduced to simple clicks, whether on our smartphone, tablet or computer. The screen has become a giant work tool, yet it emits blue light, which can be harmful to our eyes. This blue light is in the field of wavelengths of ultra violet radiation. Thus, in order to study the variations in tear and blinking, data were collected from healthy individuals, aged between 20 and 30 years. The collection consisted of tear assessment, namely Non Invasive Break Up Time (NIBUT), counting the number of blinks per minute and completing a short questionnaire to understand the symptoms that the experiment could cause. All of these data were initially and immediately obtained after subjects playing on their smartphone for 10 minutes under different lighting conditions: normal ambient light, normal ambient light with blue filter and light off without blue filter. Task 1 is performed with normal ambient light and without blue filter, task 2 is performed with normal ambient light with blue filter and task 3 is performed light off without blue filter. In the analysis of the results it found that the symptoms increased with the use of screens, except for headache. All other symptoms, such as dryness of the eye, irritated eyes, asthenia, and blurred vision, increased. Regarding blinking, the frequency of blinking doesn’t change significantly between the various tasks, ie between off and on light and between blue filter and no blue filter. Finally, NIBUT shows a statistically significant decrease only for task 3, ie the tear has less stability in the dark. Therefore, it concludes that with the use of smartphones, there is an increase in symptoms and tear rupture changes in environments without light. |
