A emoção na linguagem verbal: das interjeições ao calão na Fala Bracarense

Abstract

No século de história da moderna Linguística pós-saussureana, a dimensão lógica e racional das línguas foi a vertente tida como o principal elemento estruturador, enquanto outros, mais ligados à emotividade, vistos como de menor importância. As interjeições foram, assim, uma categoria nitidamente negligenciada, porque tidas como elementos marginais da estrutura do sistema linguístico que apenas servem para revelar uma parte da dimensão emocional das línguas. Ora essa dimensão pode atingir limites considerados não deverem ser ultrapassados, como os que distinguem a língua aceitável das palavras normais da inaceitável das palavras não normais, dos “palavrões”, da linguagem do calão. E como muitas das interjeição roçam ou se apoiam em “palavrões”, o interesse por estas duas áreas das partes do discurso tem sido bastante refreado, funcionado este pouco interesse como a cerca sanitária que impede a contaminação do que verdadeiramente deve interessar às ciências da linguagem. No entanto, quando a Linguística se debruça sobre a língua quotidiana real e não apenas sobre a dos textos formais, a dimensão emotiva, as interjeições e o calão mostram como, para tentar perceber o funcionamento real das línguas, o estudo da dimensão emotiva não pode ser completamente afastado. Assim, a partir de um corpus oral de 90 entrevistas integradas no projeto Perfl Sociolinguístico da Fala Bracarense procurar-se-á mostrar a importância das duas componentes (as interjeições e o calão) como essenciais, não apenas para a caraterização da variedade de fala da região de Braga, mas, igualmente, para percebermos o funcionamento das línguas holisticamente consideradas.

After one hundred years of post-Saussurean Linguistics, the logical and rational dimension of languages is still considered their main structuring element, while other elements, more linked to emotion, continue to be seen as less important. Thus, interjections were clearly a neglected category, because they were seen as marginal elements of the structure of the linguistic system, only serving to reveal a part of the emotional dimension of language. Nevertheless, this emotional dimension can reach limits that are considered that should not be exceeded, such as those that distinguish the acceptable language of normal words from the unacceptable language of non-normal words, curse words and slang. As many of the interjections touch or rely on curse words, the interest in these two areas of the parts of speech has been quite restrained, functioning this minor interest as a sanitary barrier that prevents the contamination of what is thought to really matter to language sciences. However, when we look at the real everyday language and not just that of formal texts, the emotional dimension, interjections and slang show how, in order to understand the real functioning of language, the study of the emotional dimension cannot be ruled out. Thus, based on an oral corpus of 90 interviews, integrated in the Sociolinguistic Profle of Braga´s Speech Variety project, we will try to show the importance of these two components (interjections and slang), not only for the characterization of the speech variety of the region of Braga, but also to understand the functioning of languages at a holistic level.
