Escrevendo a minha história: a escrita criativa na aula de Inglês

Abstract

O relatório aqui apresentado está inserido no Mestrado em Ensino do Inglês no 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e reporta o percurso formativo durante o estágio profissional, detalhando o processo de implementação do projeto de intervenção pedagógica: “Escrevendo a minha história: A escrita criativa na aula de Inglês. O projeto debruçou-se sobre a escrita criativa e, como objetivo, procurou verificar as potencialidades do uso desta na motivação e promoção de competências de comunicação e de aprendizagem, bem como veículo de expressão criativa nas crianças. Para auxiliar e documentar o percurso dos alunos, foi criado um portefólio de escrita, modelado a partir do Portefólio Europeu de Línguas. Este teve um papel fundamental no decorrer do projeto, tendo evidenciado suas valências pedagógicas como instrumento auxiliar educativo. As atividades de escrita criativa demonstraram ser vantajosas na consolidação de competências linguísticas, pois os alunos utilizaram os seus saberes de língua na sua plenitude na produção de textos originais. Estas atividades também revelaram ser veículos de motivação pela aprendizagem de língua. Os resultados evidenciam o estímulo da criatividade nas crianças, no sentido de permitir-lhes criarem textos originais dentro do seu conhecimento de língua. No entanto, este tipo de atividades requer um trabalho contínuo e progressivo por parte do professor, de modo a familiarizar os alunos com atividades pouco comuns neste nível de ensino. Como limitações, as atividades e estratégias desenvolvidas teriam melhores resultados com uma implementação mais prolongada. Contudo, foi possível desmistificar a crença de que as crianças neste nível de proficiência são incapazes de criar textos significativos numa língua estrangeira.

The following report was inserted within the master’s degree in Teaching English in Primary School, documenting its formative progress during the internship and detailing the pedagogical intervention project: “Writing my story: Creative writing in English class”. The project focused on creative writing and, as an objective, sought to verify the potential of its use in the motivation and promotion of communication and learning skills, as well as a vehicle for creative expression in children. To assist and document the students' path, a writing portfolio was created, modeled after the European Language Portfolio. This had a fundamental role throughout the project, having highlighted its pedagogical skills as an auxiliary educational tool. The creative writing activities proved to be advantageous in consolidating language skills, as students used their knowledge of the language to its fullest in the production of original texts. These activities also proved to be motivational vehicles for language learning. The results show the stimulation of creativity in children, in the sense of allowing them to create original texts within their language knowledge. However, this type of activities requires continuous and progressive work on the part of the teacher, in order to familiarize students with unusual activities at this level of education. As limitations, the activities and strategies developed would have better results with a longer implementation. However, it was possible to demystify the belief that children at this level of proficiency are incapable of creating meaningful texts in a foreign language.
