As Estórias dentro da História: mapeando a nação no Museu da Revolução de João Paulo Borges Coelho

Abstract

Museu da Revolução, o mais recente romance do escritor moçambicano João Paulo Borges Coelho, oferece ao leitor uma indagação sagaz e minuciosa sobre como lidar de uma forma reparadora com o passado moçambicano na sua relação com os legados da colonialidade no tempo da experiência da pós-colonialidade europeia e africana. Acompanhando o escritor neste exercício complexo e plural de reconhecimento de outras estórias, narrativas e memórias construídas como património periférico e residual dentro de uma História maior, o presente artigo pretende articular com a mundanidade pós-colonial o emergente vigor dos estudos da pós-memória, construindo a partir deste encontro um enriquecimento humano, histórico e cívico em torno do posicionamento geracional refém de silêncios de gerações anteriores. Com precisão, a pós-memória apresenta-se, partindo da análise deste romance, como uma contribuição teórica e metodológica na sua capacidade de interagir com a ancestralidade colonial e sob a perspetiva da reparação histórica, do dever de memória de realizar o mapeamento e a desconstrução de velhas lógicas sobreviventes da colonialidade no presente pós-colonial humano global.

Museum of the Revolution, the most recent novel by the Mozambican writer João Paulo Borges Coelho, offers the reader a shrewd and detailed question on how to deal in a thoughtful and restorative way with the Mozambican past in its relationship with the legacies of coloniality in the time of European and African post-coloniality experience. Following the writer in this plural and complex exercise of recognition of other stories, narratives and memories constructed as a peripheral and residual patrimony within a larger History, this article intends to articulate with post-colonial worldliness the emerging vigor of post-memory studies, building from this encounter a human, historical and civic enrichment around the generational positioning held hostage to the silences of previous generations. With precision, post-memory presents itself, based on the analysis of this novel, as a theoretical and methodological contribution in its ability to interact with colonial ancestry and from the perspective of historical reparation, the duty of memory to map and deconstruct old logics that survived coloniality in the global human post-colonial present.
