Efeito do diâmetro pupilar na acomodação

Abstract

Com este estudo procurou-se perceber de que forma o diâmetro pupilar influencia a amplitude de acomodação. Após revisão bibliográfica é possível verificar que a resposta acomodativa varia com o tamanho pupilar, exigindo uma resposta menor quanto menor for o diâmetro da pupila. Assim sendo, será importante perceber de que forma o tamanho da pupila influencia as medidas acomodativas, nomeadamente a determinação da amplitude de acomodação. Para este estudo recrutaram-se voluntários com idades compreendidas entre os 18 anos e os 35 anos. Fizeram parte do estudo 21 sujeitos (15 mulheres e 6 homens) com idades compreendidas entre os 20 e os 35 anos, a quem se mediu a amplitude de acomodação (AA) com vários diâmetros pupilares: 1 mm (AA1), 2 mm (AA2) e 3 mm (AA3). Os resultados deste trabalho mostram que a AA é condicionada pelo diâmetro pupilar. Com o diâmetro pupilar de 1 mm a AA foi significativamente maior quando comparada com os outros diâmetros pupilares. Para além da análise feita da AA para diferentes diâmetros pupilares, procurou-se ainda verificar se os resultados obtidos eram influenciados pela ametropia e sexo dos sujeitos. Para estes fatores encontraram-se diferenças entre míopes e emetropes, obtendo os míopes uma amplitude de acomodação mais alta, sendo esta apenas, estatisticamente significativa para a pupila de 3 mm. No caso do género, os homens obtiveram uma amplitude de acomodação mais alta em todas as medidas, mas estas só foram estatisticamente significativas com a pupila de 1 mm.

This study had as main purpose to understand how pupil diameter influences the amplitude of accommodation. After a bibliographic review, it was possible to verify that the accommodative response varies with the size of pupil, requiring smaller responses with smaller pupils. Therefore, it is important to understand how the pupil size influences the accommodative measures, namely the amplitude of accommodation. For this study, volunteers were randomly collected between the age of 18 and 35. There were 21 subjects (15 women and 6 men) aged between 20 and 35, who were measured the amplitude of accommodation (AA) with several pupil diameters: 1 mm (AA1), 2 mm (AA2) and 3 mm (AA3). The results of this study showed that the AA was conditioned by the pupil size. With the pupil diameter of 1 mm, the AA was significantly higher when compared to the other pupil sizes. In addition it was made the analysis to compare the results between the refractive errors and genders. For these factors, it was found differences between the myopic and the emmetropic group, with every pupil diameters the myopic group had always higher amplitudes of accommodation, but the only statistically significant results were found with the pupil of 3 mm. For the genders, male had higher amplitudes of accommodation than female, but the differences were only statistically significant with the pupil of 1 mm.
