Tradução de documentos de saúde pública

Abstract

Realizado no âmbito do Mestrado de Tradução e Comunicação Multilingue, o presente relatório de estágio tem como finalidade descrever as atividades desempenhadas durante o Estágio Curricular desenvolvido na Federação Mundial de Associações de Saúde Pública, uma organização sem fins lucrativos cujo objetivo é criar políticas globais para melhorar o bem-estar e a saúde das populações. Nestes últimos tempos temos visto o quão crucial é a nossa saúde pública e a dos restantes países deste mundo. A tradução serve como um mediador do conhecimento global, especialmente, no mundo da medicina. É, pois, crucial assegurar padrões de qualidade suficientes na tradução e interpretação médica para que a informação errada não seja transmitida. Também, assegurar a melhoria global destes setores continua uma prioridade. Durante o estágio, fiquei responsável por três tarefas distintas: tradução, revisão e criação de glossários. Sempre com as línguas de trabalho o inglês e o português. Estas três tarefas consistiram na tradução dos scripts dos webinars realizados pela organização, webinars estes, realizados ao longo deste ano com temas de saúde pública.

Carried out within the scope of the Master's Degree in Translation and Multilingual Communication, this internship report aims to describe the activities performed during the curricular internship developed at the World Federation of Public Health Associations, a non profit organization whose goal is to create global policies to improve the well-being and health of the population. In recent times, we have seen how crucial public health is, not just for our own country but for the world. Translation serves as a global knowledge broker, especially in the medical field. It is therefore crucial to ensure sufficient quality standards in medical translation and interpretation to avoid transmitting incorrect information. Ensuring the overall improvement of these sectors remains a priority. During my internship, I was responsible for three different tasks: translation, proofreading, and glossary creation. The working languages were always English and Portuguese. These three tasks consisted of translating the scripts of the webinars held by the organization, which focused on public health themes throughout the year.
