Validación del registro observacional de la comunicación aumentativa y alternativa (ROCAA) al portugués europeo

Abstract

Los niños que presentan discapacidad pueden tener dificultades para adquirir el lenguaje y la comunicación, precisando de sistemas de comunicación aumentativa y alternativa (CAA) multimodales que incluyan desde el uso de gestos sencillos a signos manuales y/o símbolos dentro de dispositivos de alta o baja tecnología. Para hacer una buena prescripción del sistema de CAA hay que llevar a cabo un emparejamiento de características entre las habilidades del individuo y las características de los dispositivos para su adecuación a las necesidades y capacidades y no se produzca el abandono del sistema. El problema es que en castellano y en portugués europeo no hay instrumentos para la evaluación de la comunicación en nuestras lenguas, excepto la matriz de comunicación, El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar el Registro Observacional de la Comunicación Aumentativa (ROCAA) y el proceso de validación al portugués europeo. El proceso de traducción y adaptación del ROCAA siguió los parámetros metodológicos exigidos en estos procesos. Junto con la traducción y la retro-traducción, realizamos análisis cualitativos, buscando la pertinencia y la comprensión de los ítems. Se compararon las dos versiones, la original y la traducida, y, en general, se mantuvo la equivalencia técnica, de contenido y semántica y también en cuanto a las competencias evaluadas y la adaptación cultural a los respectivos contextos. Se presentarán los resultados de la validación de contenido basados en jueces expertos portugueses.

Children with disabilities may have difficulties in acquiring language and communication, requiring multimodal augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems that include from the use of simple gestures to manual signs and/or symbols within high or low technology devices. In order to make a good prescription of the AAC system, a matching of characteristics between the individual's abilities and the characteristics of the devices must be carried out in order to match them to the needs and capabilities and to avoid abandonment of the system. The problem is that in Spanish and European Portuguese there are no instruments for the evaluation of communication in our languages, except for the communication matrix. The aim of this paper is to present the Observational Record of Augmentative Communication (ROCAA) and the validation process to European Portuguese. The process of translation and adaptation of the ROCAA followed the methodological parameters required in these processes. Along with the translation and back-translation, we conducted qualitative analyses, seeking the relevance and comprehension of the items. The two versions, the original and the translated, were compared and, in general, technical, content and semantic equivalence was maintained, as well as equivalence in terms of the competencies assessed and cultural adaptation to the respective contexts. The results of the content validation based on Portuguese expert judges will be presented.
