The purpose of this report is to present and analyse the project developed as part of the curricular internship at Ginásios da Educação Da Vinci, in Braga, as an integral part of the master’s degree in Translation and Multilingual Communication at the University of Minho. Given the growing incorporation of digital and playful resources in the teaching of English as a foreign language, we developed a prototype of an educational and narrative game, designed in Godot Engine. This prototype was implemented in English classes of beginner and intermediate levels (A1, A2, and B1, B2, respectively), in Cambridge preparation, from which it was possible to ascertain the effectiveness of the project in enhancing student motivation and engagement with the didactic content. The report is divided into a theoretical first part (chapters I and II), which explores the literature in the field of serious and educational game design and application in teaching, and a practical, expository, and reflective second part (chapters III and IV), which records all the activity accomplished in the context of the internship, namely the creation and implementation process of the game prototype, as well as the analysis of the translation aspect of the internship. |
