O contributo da educação intercultural para a formação cidadã do aluno: experiências didáticas em Estudo do Meio e História e Geografia de Portugal

Abstract

O presente relatório objetiva apresentar a implementação do Projeto de Investigação Pedagógica Supervisionada desenvolvido no âmbito do Mestrado em Ensino do 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico e de Português e História e Geografia de Portugal no 2.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Abraçando o tema O contributo da Educação Intercultural para a formação cidadã do aluno: experiências didáticas em Estudo do Meio e História e Geografia de Portugal, o presente estudo pretendeu compreender de que forma é que os alunos do 1.º e 2.º CEB desenvolvem a sua cidadania partindo da abordagem de conteúdos sobre interculturalidade e discutir a importância da Geografia e da História para a promoção da Educação Intercultural. No decorrer da implementação das atividades, esta investigação procurou privilegiar uma abordagem construtivista, centrada no aluno, nos seus interesses e nas suas conceções prévias, promovendo aprendizagens significativas e também o pensamento crítico dos alunos face a temáticas no âmbito da Educação Intercultural. Em contexto de 1.º CEB, privilegiamos atividades adequadas às necessidades do público-alvo. Assim, os alunos desenvolveram trabalhos de pesquisa sobre as comunidades imigrantes presentes em Portugal, cujo propósito recaiu sobre a importância do conhecimento da cultura desses povos para uma melhor integração dos mesmos. Já em contexto de 2.º CEB, o objetivo das atividades propostas passou por assegurar a lecionação dos conteúdos de História e Geografia de Portugal ligados à Educação Intercultural, através do tema da Expansão Marítima, cuja finalidade passou por despertar e aumentar o interesse dos alunos pelo contexto histórico, levando-os a refletir sobre valores de cidadania. Os principais resultados obtidos através desta investigação demonstram que a promoção da Educação Intercultural permite que os alunos desenvolvam uma cidadania ativa, crítica e responsável e que a História e a Geografia desempenham uma mediação pedagógica fundamental para a Educação Intercultural. Assim, o presente relatório visa oferecer um pequeno contributo à pesquisa educacional sobre a importância da promoção da Educação Intercultural nas nossas escolas.

This report has the objective of presenting the implementation of the Supervised Pedagogic Investigation Project, developed for the Master’s Degree on 1st Cycle of Basic Education Teaching and 2nd Cycle of Basic Education of Portuguese and History and Geography of Portugal. Choosing the theme The contribution of Intercultural Education for citizenship education of pupil: didactical experiences in Environment Study and History and Geography of Portugal, this study had the objective of comprehending how would the students develop their citizenship after approaching intercultural matters and discussing the Geography and History importance on the promotion of Intercultural Education. During the implementation of these activities, this investigation tried to follow a constructivist approach, focused on the students, their interests and their previous notions, promoting significative learnings and the students’ critical thinking on the Intercultural Education subjects. For the 1st CBE, we promoted activities adjusted to the students needs, in order to get them to know, through research work, about the immigrant communities that are present in Portugal, and the importance and knowing these people cultures for their better integration on our society. On the other hand, with the 2nd CBE students, our goal with these activities was to teach them History and Geography of Portugal subjects connected to the Intercultural Education, using the Maritime Expansion subject, growing the students’ interest for the historic context, getting them to think about citizenship values. The main results obtained with this investigation show that the promotion of Intercultural Education allows the students to develop an active, critical and responsible citizenship, and that History and Geography subjects play a pedagogic mediation that is vital for the Intercultural Education. In conclusion, this report has the objective of giving a small contribute to the educational research about the importance of promoting Intercultural Education on our schools.
