Da literalidade ao desapego textual: análise da tradução realizada pelos alunos na UC “Técnica e Prática da Tradução do Chinês”

Abstract

A globalização e consequente disseminação de culturas trouxe consigo um conjunto vasto de desafios sociolinguísticos e culturais, tanto maiores quanto maior for a distância entre as línguas e culturas, como acontece entre as línguas e culturas portuguesa e chinesa. Esta distância cultural impõe a necessidade da existência de traduções de qualidade, que auxiliem tanto na correta divulgação destas línguas e culturas, quanto a evitar conflitos e desentendimentos. Percebe-se então a necessidade de apoiar um ensino de qualidade que permita dotar os futuros tradutores de competências para um bom desempenho da sua atividade. Neste sentido, revela-se importante refletir e desenvolver estudos na área dos Estudos da Tradução, mais especificamente no âmbito do Ensino da Tradução Chinês/Português. Neste relatório procurou-se dar resposta às questões de se existe alteração do método de tradução preferido pelos alunos ao longo do semestre e se a competência linguística terá alguma influência nesta escolha. Os resultados encontrados permitem afirmar que a preferência inicial dos alunos pela tradução literal se vai alterando para uma tradução livre ao longo deste período.

Globalization along with the diffusion of cultures – a direct consequence of the first – have been posing a whole range of sociolinguistic and cultural challenges. These are usually as big as the distance between both languages and cultures, which holds true in the case of Portuguese and Chinese languages and cultures. This cultural distance imposes the need for quality translations, important for the correct propagation of said languages and cultures, and furthermore for the prevention of misunderstandings and conflicts. It becomes evident the urge to aid good teaching in shaping the future translators, to provide them with the competences to perform their work well. In this regard, it is crucial to ponder on these topics and to develop more studies in the field of Translation Studies, specifically in the area of Teaching Chinese/Portuguese Translation. With this report, we sought to answer the questions of whether there would be a change in the translation method preferred by students throughout the semester, and whether linguistic competence would have any influence on this choice. The results found allow us to claim that the students’ initial preference for the use of literal translation has changed to that of a free translation throughout this period.

全球化和随之而来的文化传播带来了一系列社会语言和文化的问题。语言和文 化间距越远，问题越大，对于葡萄牙和中国的文化来说也是如此。遥远的文化距离则 更加需要高质量的翻译，以便正确传播这些语言和文化，并避免冲突和错会。由此可 见，在培养未来译者的过程中，必须辅以高质量的翻译教学，使他们具备出色的能 力。因此，有必要在中葡翻译教学领域开展更多的学术探讨和研究。本实习报告旨在 回答以下问题：在一学期的学习过程中，学生们所偏好的翻译方法是否发生了变化， 语言能力是否会对这种选择产生影响。研究结果表明，在此期间，学生们的偏好从最 初的直译法转向了意译法。
