comprimido, antes deste entrar no motor.
A simulação permitiu
In this report, it is presented the preparation of a BMW V12 engine for a drift car, worked at Rectificadora de Guimarães, which aims to increase its power from about 320 hp to almost 1000 hp. To increase the engine power, several changes were made, such as the significant increase in air flow and the increase in its rotation, whereas the rotation speed at which the maximum power is obtained passed from 5000 rpm to 8500 rpm. To achieve this, a positive displacement compressor was implemented, which is largely responsible for the increase in engine power. Thus, calculations were made for the selection of this component, to ensure that it would be indicated for the conditions of use in question. Regarding the valves, these were manufactured with larger diameters than the original ones. It was also designed a new camshaft, which will be produced in the company, capable of being implemented in the optimized engine with the positive displacement compressor and withstand the imposed rotation speeds. In addition, the crankshaft was lightened, and balanced, H-forged connecting rods were used, and the ducts were widened. That said, an air-water intercooler was designed to lower the temperature of the compressed air before it enters the engine. For this, the inlet temperature of the air in the engine at the maximum power conditions and the area of the exchanger necessary to dissipate this thermal load were calculated. For the elaboration of the work, it was used the software AVL Boost, which allowed to corroborate the performance of the initial engine and, later, to analyse the performance of the optimized engine after the changes are made. The study was complemented with measurements in a flowmeter. The simulation allowed to conclude that the optimized engine, with the mentioned changes, can reach a power close to the intended target, exceeding 1000 hp. |
