A linha do Vale do Tâmega: base para uma nova mobilidade

Abstract

Num período em que cada vez mais se fala na desertificação do interior de Portugal, torna-se pertinente olhar para as causas deste problema. A presente investigação visa potencializar a linha do Tâmega e dinâmicas intrínsecas a esta, cuja infraestrutura foi descontinuada e ligava a cidade de Amarante à freguesia de Arco de Baúlhe, em Cabeceiras de Basto, passando por Celorico e Mondim de Basto, servindo várias comunidades adjacentes. Esta descontinuação da linha no início da década de 90, acabou por deixar algumas aldeias completamente isoladas, dando lugar a uma ciclovia que percorre toda a sua extensão e, na qual, a maioria dos edifícios (estações e paragens) estão na sua generalidade reabilitados, mas em desuso. A intenção é olhar para esta infraestrutura que, enquanto linha ferroviária, teve um papel fundamental nesta região e devolver o papel de outrora, mantendo as suas funções atuais e trazendo um novo conceito de mobilidade a estas comunidades. Legitima-se assim, o reaparecimento de serviços próximos desta, fomentando-se o crescimento e uma melhoria da qualidade de vida para estas aldeias e pequenas aglomerações existentes.

In a period when more and more people talk about the desertification of the portuguese interior, it is important to look at the causes of this problem. This research aims to enhance the Tâmega line and the dynamics attached to it, whose infrastructure was discontinued and connected the city of Amarante to the parish of Arco de Baúlhe, in Cabeceiras de Basto, pas sing through Celorico and Mondim de Basto, serving several adjacent communities. This discontinuation of the line in the early 90's, ended up leaving some villages completely isolated, giving way to a bike path that runs along its entire length and in which most of the buildings (stations and stops) are mostly rehabilitated, but in disuse. The intention is to look at this infrastructure that, as a railway line, had a fundamental role in this region, and try to boost and requalify its former role through a new one, keeping its current functions, and bringing a new concept of mobility to these communities. Thus, the reappearance of services near it is legitimized, fostering growth and an improvement in the quality of life for these villages and small existing agglomerations.
