Dada a enorme
primeiros seis meses do ano 2021.
In 2017, according to the European Environment Agency, textile purchases in the European Union (EU) generated 654 kg of CO2 emissions per person, and one of the ways to reduce these greenhouse gas emissions is through reuse providing greater environmental benefits than recycling, since this still entails resources consumption and emission of pollutants. The purpose of this work was to evaluate the reduction of the ecological footprint, namely the reduction of the carbon footprint due to the reuse of clothing provided by a textile recovery company. Thus, data were used from collections of the company Ultriplo, which aims to value collected goods by promoting reuse, contributing to the protection of the environment and sustainable development. Given the huge amount of data involved and the complexity of the database, only the first six months of the year 2021 were considered. Through the study it was possible to conclude that the municipalities where the amount of CO2e not emitted (kg) to the atmosphere resulting from the textile reuse activity of U3 was higher were Santa Maria da Feira in the district of Aveiro, Braga in the district of Braga, Mirandela in the district of Bragança, Santo Tirso in the district of Porto, Viana do Castelo in the district of Viana do Castelo, Chaves and Vila Real in the district of Vila Real, and Cinfães in the district of Viseu, corresponding to the municipalities where more clothes were collected. Making an analysis at the district level, the district where the amount of CO2e not emitted (kg) was higher was Braga and while Viseu was the district were the amount of CO2e not emitted (kg) was lower. However analyzing the CO2e not emitted (kg) per individual in 6 months, the results show that the value continued to be higher in Braga, but the lowest value was observed in Porto, since this depends on the number of inhabitants of the district. During this study some information gaps were identified that did not allow a more complete understanding of the variability inherent in the data. Textiles and clothing are currently a very important theme, however, there are still few studies on this subject at the national level, so it will be necessary to conduct further studies, particularly on the recovery of textile waste, and also on the ecological footprint of this waste at the country level. |
