The occurrence of droughts has made the planet more susceptible to water shortages in recent years. Portugal is no different from the rest of the world; the beginning of 2022 was already marked by low rainfall levels across the country, which hampers agriculture, industry, services, leisure, and health. On the other hand, the wastewater is still a problem to be solved, especially when the water resources that receive the effluent are at low levels. Due to drought problems, and in order to give a good destination to wastewater, the circular economy promotes the idea of converting the waste of a certain production line into a new product. In this case, converting wastewater into water for reuse. The northern region is also being affected by the current drought of 2022 and for that reason, there is a need for alternative measures for managing the resources better in order to minimize this problem. This project investigates the capability of the northern region in converting waste (wastewater) into resources (water for reuse). Therefore, data from ERSAR, INE, SNIAmb and PGRH were used so as to report the production of wastewater and also their wastewater networks, entities with low and high services, its quality in an indirect way and finally the consumption of the basin districts. The results were presented through maps in order to exemplify in a better way the differences of the entities with low services, such that there are great differences between the northern municipalities. The cities in the metropolitan region of Porto and Braga are highlighted not only in the amount of wastewater produced, but also in their treatment capacity, in terms of low services. On the other hand, it can be seen that the high services managing entities are the ones that treat most of the wastewater, given that, of all the flow treated, about 56.20% belongs to the high service. It was possible to conclude that globally, the northern region would be able to replace up to 25.27% of its water supply consumption with water for reuse if the necessary infrastructures were built.por
