Reabilitação da antiga Adega Cooperativa de Vila Verde: Adega Cultural

Abstract

A reabilitação de edifícios devolutos tem predominado no contexto da atividade de projeto em Portugal, sobretudo com o recente aglomerado de pessoas nas grandes cidades. São inúmeros os exemplos de equipamentos ao abandono, que outrora, entre as décadas de 1960 e 1980, albergaram grande parte das atividades socioculturais e produtivas do nosso país. O presente trabalho, centra-se no desenvolvimento de um projeto de reabilitação cujo principal objetivo é definir uma metodologia de intervenção nestes edifícios, considerando a sua utilidade e adaptabilidade às necessidades atuais, aos novos empregos, às novas indústrias, às novas tecnologias e sobretudo à “arquitetura de necessidade”. A antiga Adega Cooperativa de Vila Verde foi o caso de estudo escolhido por se tratar de um edifício que, não obstante estar em acentuado estado de degradação, é uma referência da vila, um edifício que carateriza o trabalho das suas gentes. Simultaneamente, dado o seu enquadramento urbano e volumetria, se reabilitado, acredita-se que contém características necessárias para dar lugar a um espaço que promova a arte, a cultura e que suporte o empreendedorismo dos vilaverdenses. O seguinte projeto de reabilitação pretende mostrar como um edifício em desuso, como a antiga Adega Cooperativa de Vila Verde, pode ser reativado e assim dar lugar a um espaço útil. A abordagem inicial ao projeto de reabilitação passou por recolher toda a informação acerca do objeto de estudo, das atividades que albergava, bem como dos princípios arquitetónicos e construtivos que estão na sua origem. O estudo do desenvolvimento urbano da vila ajudou a perceber a sua implantação e qual a sua relação com a restante malha urbana. A análise comparativa com edifícios com a mesma função e do mesmo período de construção contribuiu para a compreensão arquitétonica do objeto de estudo enquanto função de Adega vitivinícola. A proposta de projeto em si e o novo programa baseou-se nas necessidades locais, no avanço tecnológico e nos novos usos dados na reabilitação de edifícios de caráter industrial em Portugal.

The rehabilitation of vacant buildings has predominated in the context of the project activity in Portugal, especially with the recent cluster of people in large cities. There ar e many examples of equipment to abandonment, which, between the 1960s and 1980s, housed a large part of our country's sociocultural and productive activities. The present work focuses on the development of a rehabilitation project whose main objective is to define an intervention methodology in these buildings, considering its usefulness and adaptability to current needs, new jobs, new industries, new technologies and above all "architecture of necessity ". The old Cooperative Winery of Vila Verde was the case of study chosen because it is a building that, despite being in a marked state of degradation, is a reference of the village, a building that characterizes the work of its people. Simultaneously, given its urban context and volumetry, if rehabilitated, it is believed to contain characteristics necessary to give place to a space that promotes art, culture and that supports the entrepreneurship of the vilaverdenses. The following rehabilitation project intends to show how a disused building, like the old Cooperative Winery of Vila Verde, can be reactivated and thus give way to a useful space. The initial approach to the rehabilitation project was to gather all the information about the object of study, the activities it housed, as well as the architectural and constructive principles that are at its origin. The study of the urban development of the village helped to understand its implantation and its relation with the remaining urban network. The comparative analysis with buildings with the same function and the same construction period, contributed to the architetonic understanding of the object of study as a wine cellar function. The project proposal itself and the new program was based on local needs, technological advancement and new uses in the rehabilitation of industrial buildings in Portugal.
