This study evaluates whether audiovideography production with smartphones, by young deaf people, can be a motivation and learning strategy in the school context. In the project, an educational video was produced concerning the illustration of a story using watercolor technique, in a classroom context, by a deaf student. The use of the smartphone in tasks related to the production of this video allowed the student to engage in an active mode of learning, centered on herself. Thus, we observed whether the creation of this digital educational content contributes significantly to increasing the student's performance and self-regulation of learning in the discipline of art drawing. Qualitative and quantitative data were collected during the two-month intervention. This included pre test and post-test results, a questionnaire to a group of teachers to students about the quality of the educational video, an interview with the student, and a final reflection on her performance. The results indicate that the deaf student's theoretical knowledge and technical performance in the drawing subject improved significantly by the end of the intervention, in addition to having appreciated and developed her audiovisual literacy and acquired competence in producing digital content to make available to other classmates, regardless of their identity. The results of the interview provide an opportunity to reflect on the opportunities and challenges of using smartphones in an educational context in projects involving the production of videos, which in itself implies changes in awareness on the application of the policy of using mobile devices in the classroom, since it facilitates, as was observed, the development of communication between deaf and hearing students. An analysis of the YouTube views was useful and made us realize that the teenager expressed her knowledge through recording and creating videos of educational content and went from simple learner to active producer.por
