This study focuses on the learning experiences of students with Portuguese as either their mother tongue or non-native language, especially those whose mother tongue is Kikongo. These two groups of students are the focus of the research conducted in the educational space. In Angola, the language of instruction in schools is Portuguese. However, not all students are proficient in this language, particularly those for whom it is not their native language (students whose first language is Kikongo). They often face significant challenges in using and comprehending Portuguese. In this scenario, the presence of learners with diverse linguistic backgrounds is undeniable, indicating the presence of equally diverse educational needs. However, schooling across the country adheres to the same teaching policy. It is recognized that, in terms of interpersonal communication, the primary mode of teaching and learning is the mother tongue. Therefore, its comprehension by those engaged in teaching and learning is essential. Thus, within this dichotomous context of students, the significance of this study lies in initiating discussions based on the learning experiences of individuals from distinct linguistic groups. Its aim is to ascertain whether educational policies equally benefit all learners or if certain groups receive more advantages compared to others. Ultimately, this research aims to stimulate reflections that can contribute to the establishment of a teaching and learning process that is free from marginalization. Instead, it aims to uphold the principle of inclusion in education because, ultimately, all students have equal rights in the school environment and the freedom to utilize the languages accessible to them. Given that students are dispersed across various provinces, the selected scope for this research was the province of Uíge. This province was chosen because it is one of the regions where Portuguese coexists with other languages, with Kikongo being the most prominent among them.por
