O repertório adaptado de violino no ensino de viola d’arco

Abstract

O presente relatório de estágio foi idealizado e concretizado no âmbito do Mestrado em Ensino de Música, ministrado pela Escola de Educação da Universidade do Minho, e desenvolve o tema da utilização de repertório adaptado oriundo de outros instrumentos no ensino de viola d’arco. Foi dada particular importância ao violino pela maior presença de obras deste instrumento e por ser um instrumento semelhante à viola na sua forma e execução. Este tema foi escolhido pela sua pertinência e presença no processo de aprendizagem do instrumento, desde as obras trabalhadas na iniciação até ao ensino superior e pela constatação da ausência de menções a este repertório nas obras para referência dos programas da disciplina. Este relatório apresenta como objetivos principais verificar qual o peso do repertório adaptado de violino no ensino de viola nos diferentes ciclos e encontrar as razões pelas quais a opção pela escolha deste repertório é tomada, questionando a existência de alternativas no seio do repertório original do instrumento. Dentro das principais estratégias usadas para alcançar os objetivos propostos destacam se a revisão bibliográfica de literatura de referência acerca do desenvolvimento de ambos os instrumentos ao nível organológico e da sua importância ao longo dos vários períodos da história da música e de que forma este influenciou a quantidade de obras compostas para cada um. A realização de inquéritos por questionário e entrevistas a alunos, professores e figuras de referência da viola em Portugal vieram a complementar também o projeto de intervenção, onde aproveitei a oportunidade para trabalhar e expor aos alunos o contexto das obras adaptadas. Com base na análise dos resultados obtidos, podemos concluir que a utilização de repertório adaptado no ensino de viola d’arco traz vantagens ao nível do desenvolvimento técnico, tanto na agilidade da mão esquerda como na técnica de arco e trabalho do som, como também no desenvolvimento da cultura e personalidade musical do aluno. O repertório adaptado dá-nos a oportunidade de tocar importantes obras de períodos e grandes compositores que não dedicaram obras a este instrumento por fatores relativos ao seu contexto na época.

This internship report was conceived and implemented within the scope of the Master in Music Teaching, taught by the University of Minho School of Education, and focuses on the employment of adapted repertoire from other instruments during viola’ teaching. Particular significance was given to the violin due to the its substantial amount of works and for being an instrument similar to the viola in its form and execution. This theme was chosen for its relevance and presence in the instrument's learning process, from the works worked on in initiation to higher education, and for the fact that there is no mention of this repertoire in the reference works in the discipline's programs. The main objectives of this report are to verify the importance of the violin adapted repertoire in viola teaching in different stages and to find the reasons why the option to choose this repertoire is taken, questioning the existence of alternatives within the instrument's original repertoire. Among the main strategies used to achieve the proposed objectives, the bibliographic review of reference literature on the development of both instruments at the organological level and their importance throughout the various periods of music history and how it influenced the number of works composed for each one. The carrying out of questionnaire surveys and interviews with students, teachers and key figures of the viola in Portugal also complemented the intervention project, where I took the opportunity to work and expose the context of the adapted works to the students. Based on the analysis of the results obtained, we can conclude that the use of adapted repertoire in the teaching of viola brings advantages in terms of technical development, both in terms of agility of the left hand and in bow technique and sound work, as well as in development of the pupil's musical culture and personality. The adapted repertoire gives us the opportunity to play important works from periods and great composers who did not dedicate works to this instrument due to factors relating to its context at the time.
