Associação de Paradela e a defesa e valorização das tradições locais (1982-2023)

Abstract

Este trabalho de investigação insere-se no âmbito do Mestrado em Património Cultural do Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade do Minho. Aborda o trabalho desenvolvido por uma coletividade na defesa e valorização das tradições locais, desde a sua fundação até a atualidade, num período de sensivelmente quatro décadas. O estudo engloba a localização da instituição e as suas ligações ao espaço rural. Todo o trabalho desta coletividade nos departamentos cultural, recreativo, social e desportivo e com uma área dedicada ao Rancho Folclórico que reporta ao departamento cultural. Este grupo promove e valoriza as danças e músicas, as letras e os cantares tradicionais minhotos. Um dos pontos principais deste trabalho passou por compreender e interpretar a constituição e fundação da Associação de Paradela e a defesa e valorização das tradições locais. Abordamos o período compreendido entre fevereiro de 1982 até à atualidade e demos particular interesse ao grupo folclórico que no ano seguinte, em 1983, passou a integrar o departamento cultural da coletividade. Trataremos ainda das dificuldades e dos constrangimentos da coletividade em manter em atividade o rancho e o grupo de música popular devido ao êxodo rural e a um certo desinteresse da população mais jovem pela música popular. Outra das preocupações deste trabalho está relacionada com a importância do Património Material e Imaterial existente nestas localidades. A descoberta da origem de muito deste património que se encontra esquecido e por vezes abandonado torna mais pobre uma região rica em tradições. Este estudo também procurou ir ao encontro de algum deste património ouvindo na primeira pessoa alguns dos seus agentes, nomeadamente responsáveis do Grupo Folclórico de Paradela, que acomoda e incorpora músicas e danças da região e apresenta-as ao público no seu reportório. E ainda, as relações entre as atividades agrícolas e os eventos etnográficos.

This research work is part of the Master's degree in Cultural Heritage at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho. It addresses the work carried out by a collective in defending and valuing local traditions, from its foundation to the present, over a period of approximately four decades. The study encompasses the location of the institution and its connections to rural areas. All the work of this collective in the cultural, recreational, social and sports departments and with an area dedicated to the Folklore Ranch that reports to the cultural department. This group promotes and values traditional Minho dances and music, lyrics and songs. One of the main points of this work was understanding and interpreting the constitution and foundation of the Paradela Association and the defense and appreciation of local traditions. We covered the period from February 1982 to the present day and gave particular interest to the folklore group that the following year, in 1983, became part of the collective's cultural department. We will also discuss the difficulties and constraints faced by the community in keeping the ranch and the popular music group in operation due to the rural exodus and a certain lack of interest among the younger population in popular music. Another concern of this work is related to the importance of the Material and Intangible Heritage existing in these locations. The discovery of the origin of much of this heritage that is forgotten and sometimes abandoned makes a region rich in traditions poorer. This study also sought to explore some of this heritage by listening in the first person to some of its agents, namely those responsible for the Paradela Folkloric Group, which accommodates and incorporates music and dances from the region and presents them to the public in its repertoire. Furthermore, the relationships between agricultural activities and ethnographic events.
