O silêncio na arquitetura: ressonâncias em tempos de ruído

Abstract

A presente dissertação expõe e debate o tema do Silêncio na Arquitetura, através de várias interpretações e significados. Esses significados, aqui, apelidam-se de ressonâncias. Assim, à luz do conceito de Silêncio, nomeadamente a partir de uma análise interpretativa, que usa o filtro do Silêncio, pretende-se questionar sobre o modo como a consideração do Silêncio pode ser utilizada como um instrumento operativo, um modus operandi, do processo de conceção de um projeto de arquitetura. Inicialmente, são analisadas argumentações teóricas, permitindo, na segunda parte do trabalho, que se reflita sobre dez obras de arquitetura que, por sua vez, identificam-se com algumas das ressonâncias de Silêncio. Deste modo, revela-se presente a ideia de que tão relevante como questionar o Silêncio, é indagar sobre os modos como este é transmitido.

This dissertation exposes and debates the subject of Silence in Architecture, through various interpretations and meanings. These meanings, here, are called resonances. Thus, in light of the concept of Silence, namely from an interpretative analysis, which uses the Silence filter, it’s intended to question how the consideration of Silence can be used as an operative instrument, a modus operandi, of the process of designing an architectural project. Initially, theoretical arguments are analyzed, allowing, in the second part of the dissertation, to reflect about ten architectural projects that, in turn, identify with some of the resonances of Silence. Therefore, unveiling the notion that as relevant as questioning Silence it’s to inquire about the ways in which it is transmitted.
