Relação entre a responsividade do terapeuta e a prosódia da sua intervenção

Abstract

O propósito do presente estudo consistiu em compreender e caracterizar a prosódia das intervenções do terapeuta que são validadas ou invalidadas pelo cliente, e, portanto, averiguar possíveis padrões prosódicos associados à responsividade do terapeuta. Foi seguida uma metodologia de estudo de caso, que permitiu a microanálise da interação terapêutica de um caso clínico de sucesso, com diagnóstico de Perturbação Depressiva Major e cuja intervenção seguiu o modelo psicoterapêutico cognitivocomportamental. De forma a analisar o fenómeno de interesse deste estudo, recorreu-se a uma base de dados com as sessões do caso gravadas e previamente codificadas com o Sistema de Codificação da Colaboração Terapêutica. A prosódia da intervenção do terapeuta foi analisada, através do PRAAT, com base em 3 variáveis: pitch médio, pitch mínimo e pitch máximo. Os resultados deste estudo sugerem que, neste caso clínico, não existem diferenças nas variáveis analisadas entre intervenções do terapeuta responsivas às necessidades do cliente e, portanto, validadas e intervenções do terapeuta não responsivas às necessidades do cliente e, portanto, invalidadas. No contexto específico deste caso, não se verificaram padrões prosódicos associados à responsividade do terapeuta.

This study aimed to comprehend and characterize the prosody of the therapist's interventions that are validated or invalidated by the client, and, therefore, to investigate possible prosodic patterns associated with the therapist's responsiveness. A case study methodology was followed, which allowed an in-depth microanalysis of the therapeutic interaction of a successful clinical case, diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and whose intervention followed the cognitive-behavioral psychotherapeutic model. To analyze the phenomenon of interest in this study, we used a database with recorded case sessions, previously coded with the Therapeutic Collaboration Coding System. The prosody of the therapist's intervention was analyzed, using PRAAT, based on 3 variables: mean pitch, minimum pitch and maximum pitch. The results of this study suggest that, in this clinical case, there are no differences in the variables analyzed between therapist interventions that are responsive to the client's needs and, therefore, validated and therapist interventions that are not responsive to the client's needs and, therefore, invalidated. In the specific context of this case, there were no prosodic patterns associated with the therapist's responsiveness.
