This work focuses on cybersecurity in relation to the banking sector. Banking entities are one of the most sensitive sectors of society when faced with cyber threats. The increasing development of technology has caused individuals to increasingly migrate their activities to the virtual world, with the increase in users, an increase in threats. It is extremely important to understand the functioning of this new system within society, discovering the vulnerabilities and the agents involved. There are many regulations and standards external to the sector to minimize the effects of cybercrime, just as it is important to have knowledge of the Cybercrime Law, created in Portugal based on the Budapest Convention, which occurred on November 23, 2001, and which punishes these criminal acts. The European Union's concern on the topic is not new, and several bodies have been created to combat cybercrime. This study analyzes the attacks that most affect banks, who the criminal agents are, what the Cybercrime Law presents as most important for this topic and the measures taken by the European Union and Portugal to minimize risks and combat the attacks.por
