We can say that what has changed and impacted families the most, since the 20th century, and according to the authors and research on this topic, was the father's involvement, not only in the family in general, but also in their children’s clinical care. Recent studies show that the pediatric focus is still, predominantly, on the mother-child dyad, rather than the mother-father-child triad. As such, this study aims to (1) verify whether the father's initial acceptance of the pregnancy, influences the child's mental health, (2) verify whether the father's physical and emotional closeness, influences the child's mental health, (3) check whether the family's socio-economic status, influences the child's mental health, and (4) verify whether the frequency of physical contact and care, provided by the father after pregnancy, influences the child's mental health. 114 fathers (male) participated in this longitudinal study, over three assessment periods: (1) first trimester of pregnancy (8-14 weeks gestation, M = 12.97, SD = 1.49), (2) second trimester of pregnancy (10- 14 weeks postpartum, M = 13.64, SD = 0.81) and (3) third trimester of pregnancy (21-46 months postpartum, M = 32.22, SD = 6.47). Both parents independently completed a sociodemographic questionnaire, measures of anxiety and depression symptoms at each assessment point and the Children Behavior Checklist (CBCL 1.5-5), when their child was 30 months old. After the results, it was observed that objectives (1), (2) and (4) were not achieved, since no statistically significant results were found in the analyses carried out. However, in objective (1) the significance value for the Externalizing behavior was 0.029, which is statistically significant. Regarding objective (3), it was observed that socio-economic status can influence a child's psychological well-being, as statistically significant results were found. More studies should be carried out on this subject, to increase society's awareness of the importance of the mother-father-child triad.por
